A New Low for Doxa..... Unfortunately
A New Low for Doxa..... Unfortunately
I just saw this over on Tlex's OceanicTime blog. Move over Invicta, here comes Doxa.

TLex hit it on the head by asking if this really is a Doxa or a Doxa asia model (no disrespect to asia of course)

Re: A New Low for Doxa..... Unfortunately
I'm pretty sure this is DOXA Asia stuff. All jokes aside, this is pretty much standard stuff for the Asian line. Ugly as shit, quartz, cheap looking. If anyone has seen a lot of the Asian market DOXAs, you'll know what I mean.rockmastermike wrote:TLex hit it on the head by asking if this really is a Doxa or a Doxa asia model (no disrespect to asia of course)

Where's the safe dive thingy on it?
Re: A New Low for Doxa..... Unfortunately
I love this line,
From DOXA This new line in the Aqua collection by Doxa is pure eye candy. Splash! A watch for active men who grab life by the horns.
I guess I don't grab life by the horns, cause that watch would not be the one I would be grabbing.

Great to see TLex ripping into Doxa again-- he is generous with a lot of companies so this criticism about "Doxa Asia" speaks volumes. I hope Doxa is listening...the two of them wherever they are, sitting on coolers surrounded by empty pbr cans.

Re: A New Low for Doxa..... Unfortunately
Doxa's just tryin to get paid, yo!
Are any of us really surprised?
They still make the same cushion case styled watch they started making in what, the 60's? Come on, I know we got experts here. demer, where you at?
Visually, other than the true mechanical diferences between a 750, 800, 1000, 1200, 4000, and 5000T (in many cases these differences are very minor), they just come in different colors.
Gee...Yellow, or Silver, or Blue or Orange. Oh, and it's a limited edition! They are only making 1000, or 2500, or 5000...this year. Then next year they make some more limited editions. Maybe they'll mispell a word on the caseback & make it even less valuable.
This is like Henry Ford expanding his car line by making a Chinese fold up car to add to his model T line, which is just offering the T in colors other than black and slapping on a Safe Drive meter on the Ford Model 4000T.
Ah hell, I have completely lost interest in DOXA. Anybody wanna buy a few well-cared examples with deep DWC pedigrees?

I like my couple subs but I was embarrased by these..
Re: A New Low for Doxa..... Unfortunately
IMO, if Doxa (Asia) wants to produce a lower cost line of watches they should have a sub-brand with a different name. Branding these watches for retail in Asia as Doxa really hurts the integrity of the global Doxa brand.

Sad really.
Like the furious Italian Coastguard said to the Captain of the sinking Cruise ship 'Costa Concordia' a couple of weeks ago....."Captain,get back on board your ship right now and coordinate the rescue".
Someone at Doxa needs a bloody good wake up slap.

Re: A New Low for Doxa..... Unfortunately
Honestly, I wish they would just release their iconic sub design (the only idea they ever have had apparently) in a small size with quartz movement so I can buy one for my daughter who could not be bothered to learn anything about mechanical watches. There, I said it.
