Re: Gift for the wife need opinions.
I agree. My wife has like 5 shit quartz watches all dead in her drawer. She said she hates having to change the batteries. I think the auto will work great. I pulled the trigger on the Datejust Pink 31mm. I consulted with her sisters and both agreed she will love it.

I think 31mm is a better size for a woman than anything smaller. I think large watches look good on women. Think Beckett (on the TV show Castle) and her 42mm Speedmaster

Changing a battery is less of a hassle than resetting an automatic after a long weekend of no wear.

??? Really? I can't remotely see how a battery change is easier than winding a watch. Serious?JP Chestnut wrote:Changing a battery is less of a hassle than resetting an automatic after a long weekend of no wear.

I was thinking of the watch as another piece of jewelry that would mostly sit in a box. If it's going to be worn daily then ok, go auto. Just commented because my wife wouldn't want to bother with setting it.

For me, the hassle became setting it every week and changing dates every month...and dealing with the constant - yet random - “my watch isn’t working and I don’t know why”, so I benched the high-end Tudor and got her a quartz Omega. And since then I’ve only replaced a battery and it took 20 mins at the local jeweler.ericf4 wrote:??? Really? I can't remotely see how a battery change is easier than winding a watch. So yes - on the whole - a totally easier thing.

I forgot to mention that my wife’s dial is salmon. It was between salmon and pink for my wife also, but she ended up choosing salmon. Congrats!
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

I'd book an impromptu 3 day vacation and find someone to watch the kids while we go. My wife would prefer that and a $500 quartz to a Rolex any day of the week.

I bought my wife a 31mm datejust with silver dial, rose gold fluted bezel, and two tone rose gold/stainless steel jubilee bracelet. My wife's mother and aunt also have 31mm. I bought all 3 from Takuya.
I don't know why, but they just can't handle the screw down crown. I'm always setting the time for all of them.

Oh yeah you " go cruising" but not on ships. Rather highway rest stops.

Exactly what we’ve done and for the same reasons. It’s either the Omega constellation or a quartz seiko ladies diver.Grahamcombat wrote:For me, the hassle became setting it every week and changing dates every month...and dealing with the constant - yet random - “my watch isn’t working and I don’t know why”, so I benched the high-end Tudor and got her a quartz Omega. Happy to report wife loves the 15 anniversary gift. She was blown away. Damn she has small wrists. I almost ran out of links to remove.
