Alternatives to a jubilee on a BLNR

Hi all,

I've been told I can expect my BLNR to come in within the next few months. The AD had placed an order for a jubilee for me a few months back too. Now the AD has said RUSA is pushing back on selling them a jubilee without a broken one needing replacement or sending in a head that would have had one (possibly wanting to service it too). While I haven't given up home on it, I am looking at options.

First thing I did was purchase some custom end links to fill the gap between case and strap - those arrived yesterday. With the recent Jomashop Hadley Roma strap sale, I also bought a shiny black alligator strap with black stitching and a matte navy blue alligator with off white stitching. Those are pretty generic options that would work fine, but not really add much flare.  I did see a picture of one on a mesh similar to the one I own already and though it looked great - but another watch friend hated it; just goes to show different strokes for different folks.

I'm toying with the idea of getting another custom strap from Aaron at Combat Straps - maybe a distressed black alligator or Alacantra strap with matching or contrast stitching, and possibly a bright blue leather underneath that shows the color on the edge of the strap and in the buckle holes.

Thought I'd toss it out to the peanut gallery and see what ideas you all have.

Ready, set, GO!

Agreed, if not jubilee than the oyster is the way to go.

Mesh is no good IMO.

I love mesh, but that looks like shit. These square case models look terrible off bracelet. I guess you could do one of those goofy expensive rubber straps, but why spend money to make your watch much less attractive? Get the oyster brushed if you want to fiddle with something.

Or just buy the jubilee off the forums. Getting an RSC to sell it to you was a pipe dream from the start. Your AD should know better.

You can try all the shit in the world, but at the end of the day, you'll realise the Oyster was always perfect.

Brushing the PCLs would be the only way I could keep the oyster bracelet. I’ve borrowed a BLNR from a friend that had fine hairlines on it and it bugged me a bit, but then I saw a guy’s who wears it without being OCD and the scratches on the PCL were heinous.

I’m still hopeful for the jubilee - I have a great relationship with the AD and he’s working on options for me and if he can get it, it’ll be 35% less than I’ve seen them from the grey dealers.

JP - I personally love the mesh look and will try it on mine since I already have one.

Longterm careful wear puts a nice mellow haze on the pcls. Keep in mind that the jubilee has zero micro adjust and a fairly shitty design on the clasp (the crowns used to fall off), and there's no secondary retention like with a fliplock.

Wear it first the way it comes. You may be quite surprised!

I did and I was. The PCLs grew on me quickly. But I also bought a black Everest strap for it and put it on my Staib mesh bracelet. Looked great on both. My AD said Rolex refused to sell him the jubilee with a broken one in exchange.
