My Submariner out for a full service.

Post by john wilson » Wed Jan 31, 2018 12:16 am

It's the M116610LM. Sent to Lititz PA. Refinishing case and service $700.00. $100.00 shipping and insurance and 4 weeks turn around time.

$100 for shipping seems expensive but $700 for a service isn't bad.

I used Brown & Co in ATL and they sent my LV to Lititz, PA last Nov for service and new crystal and also returned in 4 weeks. Exceptional work and decent price. Also got an appraisal letter saying the replacement watch should be the LVc.

Man, I’d be pissed though if I had your awesome LV and had to take the LVc as a loss replacement.

agree 100% - if I ever had to use the insurance, I would probably sell the Hulk and find another LV
I like the Lvc, but like the LV more

Nothing like getting a freshly serviced Rolex ;)

I went the cheap route: watchdoctorpa

He did a great job and it only took a week and cost 200 bucks plus 25 for shipping ;). It’s not the “real deal” but I was very happy with the entire experience

nothing wrong with trade watchmakers as long as the customer has the proper expectations: many shops are "to the trade" only, their clients are jewelers who only want to spend a little and get the watches back quickly so they can be sold. One local shop bragged recently their watchmaker finished 20 rolexes in a week, pretty amazing. I wonder if genuine parts were used, probably not.
$150 to $200 is common for a trade service.

^^^ I don’t know anything about the trade service, but I’ve always wondered who these mass second-sellers use. The guy I used says he uses OEM parts, but who knows? He just serviced the watch - cleaning/oiling/oring replacement and pressure test. Watch was -15 before I sent it and it had a reserve of about a day. When I got it back, it was awesome - buttery winding, long reserve and much better timekeeping. Round trip, 10 days.

Is Le Tits an RSC, or independent watchmaker?

If Le tits = Lititz, it's actually a Rolex training school that does services on the side. Dom in MI used to teach there.

Lititz Watch Technicum in PA is the official name and consists of the school and a separate service center, which normally handles overflow from the other rsc's: that's why many do not know it exists.

Yes that is true

Unfortunately he taught all the other watch makers that when he pops a bezel off of a vintage Rolex and loses the beautiful brown PIp that it is acceptable to install a lumed pip that doesn’t match the matte dial and trit hands.... and shipping it without mentioning it to the owner

I had a heat attack on Valentine's day at home, emt's showed up in 3 minutes. Out now and on the mend. The Doc sucked out a blood clot...99 percent clogged then put in a stent...this was all done in 30 minutes.

glad you came out ok! Rest up for a couple days and heal up quickly. Those stents are amazing!
