1957 Air King resto recommendations?

Post by Henryj » Tue Nov 28, 2017 7:29 am

A friend at work was just given his grand dad’s 1957 two tone Air King, complete with two tone rivet bracelet. The bracelet is in rough shape with bent, stretched, and in one spot, partially split gold center pieces. Any one know somebody who can do a sympathetic type restoration? He’s mostly concerned about the bracelet, and I’m betting it needs a movement service. It runs when shaken, but hand winding is very stiff. The screw down crown seems pretty nice, and has good thread engagement.

He was quoted $6900 USD equivalent by the RSC in Abu Dhabi, and said their attitude was that they didn’t really want to do it.

I’ll have pics up in a day or two, it’s a very pretty watch.

If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.
