My wrist is just under 7" and believe me when I say I've drooled over the SD4K.
only accurate watches are interesting

I think it looks great on Hoppy's wrist - 8in or whatever. That's how watches are supposed to look.

The Pelagos sat flatter on my wrist. The SD has a beveled caseback, so it sat taller.

Here's DSSD on my 8" wrist, looks fine to me :) SDC looked small for my personal taste

That does look fine - nice even. I think the SDC would look nice as well.

It looks surprisingly good on a strap.

Damn, those Tudors always look unnecessarily slab-sided and thick to me.

I don't think the SD4k will be discontinued, but rather a 50th anniversary variant will be introduced in addition to the normal model.

I am also calling a GMT Master Coke bezel in stainless steel this year.

I also have no idea what I am talking about

This is exactly why the black bay and Pelagius never stayed... look at those tall sides. Totally unnecessary.

You guys are nuts. After seeing John's pictures of his Black Bay Black that thing has been on my mind. Slab sides and L2L length be damned.

Stay tuned for the sell-off to fund the thing. Petre gets first dibs on the Ginault.

Also, I'll be seeking advice on a preferred AD. The only guys in my neighborhood are Longs and Tourneau.

Funny reading this I'm reminded I was talking to a Rolex sales associate a couple of weeks ago, and I was asking if they had a SD4k and he said they hadn't seen them in months and months and although he didn't know for sure he thought there was a very good chance of a 50th anniversary SD at Basel, but that Rolex would discontinue the 4k (he thought the dried up supply was an indication of this. Who knows...

SD4K has become essentially my one watch. I've mixed in a couple other beaters but the SD is what I grab most days. I am interested to see what comes out at Basel but doubt it will change my mind.

My old SD4K

I really liked the SD, but 41-42mm would have kept it in my stable permanently. Whatever they replace it with, I hope they keep the thin lugs and add chamfers. If they could incorporate the matte ceramic bezel from the Everose Yacht-Master

One of these has been replaced by the other. Both of these are mine and I like the new one.
