I wonder how many no-date Subs Rolex would sell if they put MilSub hands on them?
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.
Re: Random thought
Maybe they could get Yao to do the mod?
Actually, I'd love to see a printed matte dial, aluminum bezel, lug holes, sword hands Submariner. I'd prefer a traditional case shape, like the Explorer II except with a 22mm lug width (instead of 21). Use the same movement as the 114060, so it's modern inside, and sell it for $6k.
They couldn't make enough.

Except they'd sell it for 12k.
Overall, I'm not sure how many they'd sell. As a limited edition (which Rolex almost never does) they'd probably sell a lot to the Rolex fanboys. As a standard offering, not sure it would do any better (or worse) than the current 114060.

Outside of our small WIS world the lack of "Mercedes" hour hand would not sell well elsewhere IMO. It would lose it's status as a Rolex to most.

Yeah, I think you're right, Chris. Sometimes I forget we're a very small part of the watch buying population.moishlashen wrote:Outside of our small WIS world the lack of "Mercedes" hour hand would not sell well elsewhere IMO. It would lose it's status as a Rolex to most.

For a guy who spends 6 months on designing hands these don't look to good https://www.instagram.com/p/8oNfTrK-V7/hoppyjr wrote:Maybe they could get Yao to do the mod?

I'd freaking love it though-Zodiac sea wolf hands too. Alas-I guess that's what Seikos are for

I'm back and forth on my first Rolex. It's likely to be the only one for some time... maybe forever. I have a hard time pulling the trigger on the garden variety ND Sub C. It's a classic, but so ordinary in appearance. The watch you describe would kick much ass.
