Thoughts on this 1680?

Post by MikeyLikesIt » Fri Mar 20, 2015 6:35 am

About to pull the trigger but thought I'd run it by the DWC experts first. Anything jump out as being wrong on this one?

DAMN, that looks great and who ever did the work to the case did it just right from what I can tell. The lugs look like they are thicker than most I have seen.

Is that how the endlinks are supposed to fit?

this is common on a ton of vintage rolex's, they get flattened over time or have never been adjusted to fit correctly

Looks okay from those pics except for the clasp. Maybe aftermarket?

Here's what a 93150 clasp should look like:

And if the clasp is aftermarket, there's probably reason to believe the whole bracelet is.

Maybe the seller just forgot he had an aftermarket bracelet :stir:

Case looks ok. Lug holes look clean and not dished out.

Maybe ask for a better shot of the dial. Check around the dial edges for chips. Markers and hands look quite white, which is possible, but I'd want a better look.

Bezel insert looks like a replacement. Pearl is likely luminova.

I've never owned one like that. I guess that doesn't mean it's not possible. I'm definitely not an expert. :)

Bezel insert is a service replacement. The lower right lug is a tad thinner than the others but I'd like to see a better picture from the caseback to really see the lugs. I'd ask for pics of marking on the bracelet/clasp/endlinks to see if it's legit - I don't think it is.
