I'm broken......
I'm broken......
......and may need therapy.
Ever since the 114060 arrived I'm just not myself. I'm down to three watches now; the Sub, a 2200.50 Planet Ocean 2500, and the white dial Weiss. I love them all and they will all stay. Trouble is, since getting the Sub I am drawn to it each day, even when I want to wear one of the others. On days where I am able to strap on the PO or Weiss, I end up switching back to the Sub. Heck, when I moved the kid to school last week I only wore the Sub and didn't even take a second "real" watch - something I've never done in recent memory (I tossed a Casio in the glove box, where it sits today).
This is both good and bad. Good because it will surely save me money and the hassle of buying & selling. Bad because I really got off on the thrill of the hunt. I guess it's a good problem to have, it's just a big change for a chronic flipper like me.
The last time I did the "one watch" thing it was 1994 and a Tag 2000 grey dial that I bought as a present to myself for promoting to Detective.
I wore the Sub while moving stuff, assembling furniture, cleaning the apartment, etc. - all without even thinking about the fact I was wearing a Rolex, much less worrying about getting it scratched or dirty. It really does seem like the perfect watch for me, especially on the NATO straps I love so much.
Am I broken......or finally fixed?

I don't really see a problem. You'll be back at some point. Until then, there is always cars or 1911s or something. Let it ride until you see that Nomos or GS in person that makes ur thing spring again.

The sub (or/and SD) are indeed the perfect one watch, daily wearer and do-it-all

I hear ya Hops.
I'm perfectly happy with the sub that I am half assing my efforts to save up for the 214270.

Re: I'm broken......
All of the above.
I could be equally (more?) happy with the SD4000.
I guess the Sub "feels like home" to many of us.

Re: I'm broken......
Good for you, Ed. I would be perfectly happy as a one watch guy if I could find the "One". Maybe a 114060 is the answer.
Re: I'm broken......
I've held off on talking watches for a while, because for the past full week I've been wearing the sd4k and haven't had a single desire to put on anything else. Bizarre, but it is truly perfect for me.
Re: I'm broken......
Sounds like another 1watch-1month challenge coming on.
I could probably do it with SubC/SDC if it were a little larger for my wrist.

I get in a groove too. Lately I have been wearing my Pelagos a lot. I think that I just get lazy and grab whatever is on the nightstand though...try putting the Sub away and put one of your other watches out in the open and easier to grab-n-go.

Re: I'm broken......
seems the Sub-C is the default "one watch", it also seems I am the only one not to try one yet (okay, maybe not only, but still)
the revolving door that is our hobby is a product of 1) love the rotation and having something new or 2) searching for the one to stop the revolving door.
if you're happy, then no, I wouldn't consider it a broken condition at all.
many times we don't realize the most important events in our lives as they happen, we only realize them later - enjoy this time, Hoppy. Revel in it, for many of us, its watches we have but it's peace we lack.

Re: I'm broken......
For a while, my rotation was some other watch and then the Sub each evening.
I have been able to go days without wearing it, but it is always there...beckoning.

Having done this awhile, I say it ebs and flows and at some point you will get back on the crazy train

Re: I'm broken......
It's the one that gets the vast majority of wrist time in my lineup as well...Makes me wonder why I even have some of the other pieces at times.
Re: I'm broken......
I agree. I will find the "perfect rotation" and then look up six months later and not have any of those watches. I really think I could get down to a couple if I stayed off the forums and watchrecon.Joe C wrote:Having done this awhile, I say it ebs and flows and at some point you will get back on the crazy train
As RMM said earlier, enjoy it while it last.
Re: I'm broken......
For perspective, I haven't wore my 14060 in almost a month now. Before that it was easily the most worn for months. I thought I was done or fixed/cured, but then a couple of interesting watches became available. In reality, I made them available, and now I am back on the merry-go-round. This will eventually settle and I will be content for a few months. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Re: I'm broken......
Great replies fellas. I am enjoying being off the "crazy train" for a little while. It hasn't cured my want for others, it's just cured my desire to act upon that want. There are surely others I'd like to try/add, but oddly they are mostly pieces I've already owned. I think it's a matter of finally realizing what I like and staying close to that spot.
Another U1, another Pelagos, another nice Seiko, and something for beater duty and I'd be seriously content for the long term. Toss in a BPFF and a Speedy (maybe 9300) and I'm done.
This all said, the 114060 could function as my "exit watch" very nicely.
