Rolex Diver Trio

Post by dukerules » Sun Nov 30, 2014 2:15 pm

I picked up this 1665 from Matt a couple of weeks ago, and I'm still over the moon. There really is something special about vintage Rolex, and this one checks all of my vintage Rolex boxes. It's a pretty cherry specimen, and the superdome crystal (an ABC mod) really makes the watch. After years in this hobby, I've come to the realization that the classic Submariner/Sea-Dweller design is the sweet spot for me. It's interesting that despite all of the shared DNA, these three watches are completely different.

(apologies for the less-than-stellar picture. PB apparently loves to compress the crap out of high-res images).

It's nice to know exactly what you want in watches. You sir have achieved that.
Congrats Rahul!

I love that trio. Funny bc my Sub-C is my favorite but I couldn't justify having both the SD and it in the same lineup. Wish I would have kept it now...

All are amazing, but your 1665 would be my exit watch. period.
There are not enough words to describe how I love that watch.

Are you going to add a DSSD and make it foursome???

Quite the trio indeed. you did great with that 1665  I had the chance to wear it for a couple of hours and it's just a "WOW" piece. Just so hot. Perfection in the vintage Rolex world for me.
Like you I've been moving towards smaller pieces and the classics with my main three being the blue and black 79090 and the 16570. I too find that style and size to be the sweet spot  The NSA add a little craziness to the box :)

I so miss my SD and hope to reacquire it :)

Love all three, and I certainly know what is like to have a bunch of these and feel like they all are different and fill a niche!

I love all 3 but honestly the 1665 would be my one watch. its in great shape, totally functional and extremely cool. I love plexi.
I didn't know it had a super dome mod.
PM incoming to figure out what you mean about this....

Very nice indeed. I agree, those are different enough to maintain all three.

Lovely! And that's a fantastic trio! Trade the 114060 for a 116600 and you have my favorite trio of Rolex divers too.
