Man walks into RSC Sydney yesterday...

Being me.

When I arrived a older gent was having his Daytona inspected for a service, the gent say's it stops and starts intermittently.

The lady who runs the front desk takes the watch into the workshops, she returns a few minutes later. She then tells/lets the gent down softly. The watch is not their's (fake) and they cannot work on it. He protests, saying it was a gift from his son in-law. Perfect customer service, I'd be the worst person in her position.

The Faketona owner then asks how much it (a real one) would be worth. The she very politely says they only provide estimates on servicing and cannot not provide retail valuations. The old guy also comments that his son in-law is a prominent business man, WGAF (who buys a fake Rolex for his dad in-law). After calling his son in-law, he comments that the watch was purchased in Switzerland (probably BS) and will investigate. Most likely never to be seen again.

Was amusing watching this, and it must happen more often than not.

Oh yeah, I picked this up after having a full service, new hands, bezel insert and crystal.

Thanks guys, yeah the older gent was pretty taken aback when he was told the news, but it was handled very professionally by their reception.

The watch looks great, but the case is at the absolute limit for future polishing. There is only the slightest recess for the spring bar ends, I can see why current watches have thicker lugs. Thanks J

I feel bad for the daughter. She married the kind of man that would buy a fake watch for her dad. Ok, benefit of the doubt is that he got bamboozled.

By the way, the title of your post made me think a limerick was coming, but then there wasn't.
Here is one.

There once was a lady from Sydney.
Desired a Rollie so bad she'd uh traded a kidney.
I showed her my Deep Sea,
She got all weak in the knees.
I settled for taking her virginity.

Really nice, Jules, although you paid more for that servicing than I paid for my "Explorer II."
