Yup. I bought a $325 pair of office shoes from what I thought was an obscure lux brand To Boot New York. I am such a noob.

The Brooks Bros Peal & Co. line sells for something in the high four hundreds during one of their 25% off sales. Yes, it's more, but worth it IMHO - far better shoe. Also, check out some of the Allen Edmonds styles even with no sale. The Park Avenue is their standard dress balmoral. MSRP of $380 or so. As long as the fit works for you, it's a good way to go.

Whatever you do, don't ignore comfort. Not worth it.

The AE for BB shoes are a good value. I like that they come with a rubber outer sole. Also, never buy a pair of shoes that aren't comfortable the second you try them on. I've wasted a Rolex on. shoes that I wanted to "break in".
