Rolex Sub 5513
Rolex Sub 5513
Since there's been a good amount of talk about 5513's lately, here's what looks to be a pretty good example being sold by HQ Milton. Not cheap, but dial and case look very good (case just polished, and it looks like a pretty good job).

Why is it not 1974
Re: Rolex Sub 5513
Looks great. Someone should buy it.
Re: Rolex Sub 5513
I have no facts to back me up on this, but I'm not sure Rolex actually made any Subs in 1974 or 1975. At least you never see any for sale. That's why you need to just get that 1974 DRSD instead.Panerai7 wrote:Why is it not 1974

argh I just inquired about it. I have no idea what I'm doing, I really shouldn't

The LV was the 50th anniversary Sub and it was introduced in 2003.dukerules wrote:I have no facts to back me up on this, but I'm not sure Rolex actually made any Subs in 1974 or 1975. Re: Rolex Sub 5513
Jacek says this particular piece arrived to him without a bezel insert and he added the faded insert himself. I suspected as much as this is usually the case when the pearl patina is too different from the shade of the hands/dial markers. Other than that, the rest of the watch is all original as far as he knows.

Oh, damn. Now you made me to to his site and my credit card is trying to escape from my wallet.

1974 is not an easy year to find. I have no idea why, but its simply not.Panerai7 wrote:Why is it not 1974

Re: Rolex Sub 5513
Ironically, those are the only 1974 pieces I remember seeing. I have asked Jacek's partner about that year, he (and my local watch guy) agree/s, 1974 is not a year they frequently see.

Re: Rolex Sub 5513
How much were they asking for it? The case polishing looked to have been done skillfully and the mismatched pearl didn't catch my eye.
Re: Rolex Sub 5513
I think it was listed at $7,500. Not cheap, but it looked like a good example. Serif dial, too.JP Chestnut wrote:How much were they asking for it? The case polishing looked to have been done skillfully and the mismatched pearl didn't catch my eye.

That doesn't seem super unreasonable.JBZ wrote:I think it was listed at $7,500. Not cheap, but it looked like a good example. Serif dial, too.JP Chestnut wrote:How much were they asking for it? The case polishing looked to have been done skillfully and the mismatched pearl didn't catch my eye.
Re: Rolex Sub 5513
Jacek/HQ Milton's prices and descriptions are usually quite good. The listed price on the site is a tad higher than what they offer on forum FS posts. So they will go down a little bit from the listed price.JP Chestnut wrote:That doesn't seem super unreasonable.JBZ wrote:I think it was listed at $7,500. Not cheap, but it looked like a good example. Re: Rolex Sub 5513
I've found their Rolex prices, either forum or site, to be a tad high but not terrible whenever I've really looked. When I was looking for a 16600 their prices were always at the very top of the range, and the condition never really supported the premium. I picked up a better quality, more complete, example for less from one of the (also somewhat overpriced) forum sellers. I understand HQ Milton has some overhead and their prices aren't bad when you take that into account. They're definitely straight shooters too.foodle wrote:Jacek/HQ Milton's prices and descriptions are usually quite good.
