Rare vintage Rolex

Post by koda240 » Thu Apr 17, 2014 12:15 pm

In passing with our photographer he mentioned to me that he's shooting some watches for a client. Naturally that peaked my interest so I asked for more info.

He's shooting over 80 watches at a guy's house that are all vintage rolex. He said many are extremely rare and north of $250K. All of these owned by the same dude here in Paradise Valley. I asked him to send me a sneak peak. He only sent one so far, but once he discusses details on sharing the photos with the client he'll send me more. I figured this group would like to see. I don't know what this one is, but it looks great.

I'll post more if/when I get them.

Damn. This should be very interesting. Wonder why the guy is hiring a professional photographer. Planning a big sell off, maybe?

Not sure but I'm working on details more out PC curiosity than anything. I'd like to see his collection. I even told the photog to let me be his "assistant" for a day. No dice. Haha

It's probably from the 40s or 50s, before Rolex introduced the sport model lines (Explorer, GMT, Sub, etc) that we're all used to. I don't know anything about early Rolex

Not sure either. Almost looks like a turnograph precursor.

Yes, bubbleback. Not sure what reference number this one would be — maybe 3599?
Cool watches for sure, though.

I believe that is a Ref Ref. 3796 from the 1950's. It may be a special dial made for Mappin & Webb.
