Daytona in platinum will likely top $50K.JBZ wrote: I like the Daytona, but I'm not sure on the colors. Would want to see more pictures.
Considering the price for a stainless Daytona, I assume the price on this one will be in the 20K - 30K range.
And then there's the YMII...
YM II... exactly. Who cares?

Daytona = fail
Yacht-Master II = yawn
GMT-Master II = nice, but why not go all the way and give us the Pepsi bezel we've been asking (begging) for?
Regards,
Adam

Maybe they're appealing to the hipster market?dshap wrote:Here's a better Daytona pic. I really don't know what Rolex was thinking here
You pair that with Matt's truly ugly off-white and orange strap, and you have a combination that will make small children cry in horror... and some grown men as well!

I'm sure you're right. I had forgotten how expensive the platinum Submariner ended up being.belligero wrote:Daytona in platinum will likely top $50K.

Actually, that's a white gold Submariner you're thinking of, so yeah, a platinum Daytona is gonna go for $50K+ easily.JBZ wrote:I'm sure you're right. I had forgotten how expensive the platinum Submariner ended up being.belligero wrote:Daytona in platinum will likely top $50K.

It's funny watching the TRF crowd vote on a nickname for the new GMT. Looks like "Batman" is in the lead.

I read the price on the fugly Daytona will be around 75k. Who's preordering?

That is exactly why so many people think Rolex is the best watch in the world. If it cost that much it must be the best.dshap wrote:I read the price on the fugly Daytona will be around 75k.

i'm sure the pepsi bezel will come along in good time - at least we now know they can make a two-tone one piece (?) ceramic bezel .
(okay, whether or not it'll hold up to daily wear remains to be seen).
the posts at rolex forums are... well, i think they're smoking/drinking something i'm not.

As great as a platinum Oyster bracelet and case would be with the Daytona, that's just a tad pricey. The colours, while I don't hate them, don't exactly do much for me either. "Ice" blue just doesn't appeal for that dial. It'll be cool to try one on when it arrives, but that's about it, even leaving aside the staggering price.
On the other hand, the new GMT should prove popular in Estonia:

I think I have softened from definite no, to a 'not for me, but not too bad I guess' on the GMT.
Blue can be ok

Re: New GMT for Basel 2013? edit: GMT/Daytona/YM II/DD
I love the black / blue colour scheme... not a fan of the polished centre links and would prefer if it was 42mm... not exactly earth shattering though.
Re: New GMT for Basel 2013? edit: GMT/Daytona/YM II/DD
Ah, not really diggin' the blue and black... it's a rather severe look.
The rest of the Daytona line gets the slightly fatter case, lugs and crown guard too:
I like that they're keeping the change subtle and not messing with the dimensions too much. It probably won't look bad when they slap a ceramic bezel on it, either. That brown bezel from the platinum model and a white dial with solid brown subdials would be outstanding, in fact.

Not sure why those colors (or why this seems to be the only color scheme available). Of course, given the price, the ownership appeal is going to be severely limited even if the color scheme was more appealing.Hornet01 wrote:aboen wrote:Yikes Daytona.
