Back in my home town and visited local AD

Post by rockmastermike » Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:18 pm

While in my home town yesterday, I had the chance to stop in an AD that has been there ever since I can remember.

First thing I noticed was the woman that greeted me and walked around with me didn't try to sell me anything and one I got the Rolex section she excused herself to find a Rolex guy.....I appreciate that they had watch folks instead of the horror stories we've all heard about just a talking head.

Zane promptly came around and again, just talked washes, forums, etc - never tried to sell or show even show anything. cool young man.

Things I learned: 1) he wasn't allowed to call the watches nicknames, had had to use reference numbers 2) it's not a waiting list, it's a registrary of interest 3) yeah, supply is getting better a little at the time and yes, he has a few in the safe in the back and 4) they prioritize locals over visitors to which I said I was raised there and his manager went to the same high school as I did although he is quite a bit younger, lol

Anyway, I tried on a bluesy... excuse me, a 126613LB and a 124270

After talking for a while he said he counts me as local and I registered my interest for the 36mm EXP1

excuse the lighting and finger prints....

I was contemplating a grey market 224270 (40mm) or used 214270 (39mm) as my next watch…but seeing how that looks on you it makes me realize I need to try on the 36mm (124270) as well, which is honestly the correct choice if we’re going to get historically technical.

It's worth it to try it if you can. I went in with no expectations and still can't get it out of my head

Don’t overlook a nice 114270, far easier to get and very nice ones exist. I got a guy for these.

I’ve thought about that, but I’m so used to the six digit bracelets I think I should stick with those.

Edit: I meant the modern bracelets.

I have a mix of 6 and 5 digit models and actually prefer the 5 digit bracelets for their wearability.
