I think the crown has a lot of potential. I looks like it would be really easy to grip and hand wind.

As an industrial and automotive designer, I've come to prefer odd number spokes within circles shapes. Cross-shaped spokes, or crosses in general, are very iconic, which could well work for this project, but I would explore 5 & 7, and possibly 6 & 8 spokes and see how the logo balances with in that shape. I think it will still be very unique, but with better visual balance and a bit more sportiness a diver needs.
