I was pretty surprised when you gave up the Ti PAM. That watch just screamed "Art".

It's so hard for me to justify watches in the $3500 range. For a few thousand more, I could add another five-digit RolexNewer watches are definitely more wearable though. My EZ link Daytona is really comfortable and convenient.

and then I'll finally be done. Any watch I buy that's not on the list just puts me a little farther away. Even so, if the 58 follows the regular BB's depreciation it's going to get bought eventually.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, I guess, my wife counts my watch accumulation in terms of pure numbers, not price. One Daytona seems less objectionable to her than three cheaper watches.
Of course Tudor 58 at under 3K from AD is a no-brainer and "inexpensive" enough to wear everwhereI wouldn't mind getting 45mm myself in 2500-D flavor. I'm just saying Tudor 58 is phenomenal for its price.

Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
I'll be okay. I gotta get ready for Pepsi and don't want to put any more money into this silly hobby. Even though no one knows when it's going to be my turn. My AD told me flat out first 3-5 will go to their "high-rollers" who spent 100K++ with them in Jewelry.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 10:56 amI was pretty surprised when you gave up the Ti PAM. Just saying that I was also considering flipping my 2500 as Jacob was. But I'll probably hang onto it (it is a 45mm D) and add the BB58 at some point.

I wish there were enough new watches that didn't suck so I could become an AD "high roller", instead of subjecting myself to forum "dealers" while hunting down long discontinued references.Panerai7 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:01 amI'll be okay. They prefer in jewelry not watches. The mark up is ridiculously highJP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:05 amI wish there were enough new watches that didn't suck so I could become an AD "high roller", instead of subjecting myself to forum "dealers" while hunting down long discontinued references.Panerai7 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:01 amI'll be okay. I searched all the high end jewelery forums when i bought my wife's engagement ring. I found the most popular low margin online diamond seller and bought his highest quality diamond for her ring. I took it loose and went to a bunch of really nice jewelry stores looking for an equivalently graded/cut diamond. They were all 5 to 6 times the price. It was pretty eye opening.

Yep 500-600% mark up is common.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:42 amI don't doubt that.Panerai7 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:37 amThey prefer in jewelry not watches. A NASCAR driver or Carolina Panther walks in and buys a 100K worth of chachkis and asks if they have a GMT Pepsi, we sure do

This. Loved my PO, but the 2500 Coax movement gave me fits. Multiple times back to Nesbits before I sold it. It was the C movement but it had the intermediate escape wheel upgrade, and still stopped at year 4 and then a year after the service.

If mine gives me a single problem it would get serviced and sold immediately.
Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
Interesting photos showing size of BB58. Compares well to pre-ceramic subs.

Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
Wow. The BB58 looks incredible. That profile shot does it for me.
Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
Now I’m thinking dirty thoughts.....again. 114060 Sub + BB58 and out?
Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
I tried both on last week at AD
Ed, 58 is too small for us, it really is for an under 7" wrist. Which is great 'cause everyone said BBB is too this and that.
Also I loved GMT on my wrist, they shaved/chamfered the sides of the case kind of like Seiko does at the point of contact with the wrist. It looks less of a slab. Still has the lug holes in the wrong place though

Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
Thanks Art. Maybe we will get lucky and see a revised standard sized Black Bay one day. Make it thinner and lose the goofy aluminum crown sleeve, then I’m back in the Tudor family.Panerai7 wrote:I tried both on last week at AD

Some less than ideal shots from the event

Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
I'll come back for that one + drill the holes in the right spot between lugs, that watch is horrible with straps unless you make them fat at the lugs specifically for that watch and then those straps won't fit on any other watcheshoppyjr wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 6:42 amThanks Art. Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
I'm really torn between the GMT and the BB58.
I actually think the GMT offers a better value proposition due to the movement. I am thrilled they are offering a true traveler's dual time zone watch at (relatively) affordable pricing. The domed sapphire is nicely done and the date without the cyclops is as well integrated as a date can be. Combine this with solid 200m water resistance and I think you have about as optimal an adventure watch as you could hope for.
That BB58 certainly looks good though. I see this one being an iconic watch in 10 to 15 years.
I'll start poking my head into AD's to see which fits better.

Re: All of Tudor's New Baselworld 2018 Releases
The BB58 is too small even for me. So it’s a pass. GMT and 1926 white dial were my fave at the event.
The beveled lower edge of the GMT case helps to thin out the profile. I wasn’t as wow’d as I expected to be though.
