Quick comparo Tag Aquaracer/Omega PO
Quick comparo Tag Aquaracer/Omega PO
Jason was asking about the 41mm Tag Aquaracer recently and it just so happens I picked one up on a trade a couple of months ago. My intention was just to use it as trading fodder, but I was really surprised with the watch and have decided to keep it. It is because of it's simplicity, I think - pretty much the opposite of big and gnarly like most of my watches.
Anyway, had these two in my watch box with about 15 minutes to kill today and thought you guys would enjoy a couple of blurry pics.
Most of you have seen or played with an Omega PO, I assume, and I'd just like to say that this is my favorite watch. I have flipped 3 before this one and finally have decided that I can put up with the lack of fine adjustment on the bracelet because of everything else the watch brings to the table. It is simply the best.
The Tag is not as nice, or should I say 'smooth', but it kicks ass in it's own way. It is simple and direct while still being tough (in a cold way that only Tag can produce) and actually wears 'bigger' to me, than the PO. Not heavier, of course, but the face seems much larger. I like it better than my long ago traded SMP because it has ZERO bling. Kind of watch you can wear 24/7 as a really nice beater or decent dress watch. I've actually worn it around the clock for a week - showers, running and all - without thinking about it. I would not do that with the Omega.
Oh, and you can find a used Aquaracer for about 900 bucks or less, depending on the shape of the watch. BTW, it is only about -2 per day. Spot on.

Good stuff MC
It would be great if you flippers did a review of all the watches you breeze through. Imagine how much info would be available. Between the two of us we could write a book

Re: Quick comparo Tag Aquaracer/Omega PO
Yeah, Glen... only problem is that we would have to keep them long enough for even a 'quick' review!

Re: Quick comparo Tag Aquaracer/Omega PO
You know, I could have gone either way with the SMP or Aquaracer and been equally content, I think. I still love the Aquaracer. The hand set on that one is so subtly nice, how they widen out. That watch is a lot of bang for the buck. I almost nabbed one with rubber and steel for $600 last week when I opted for the SMP instead... No looking back... no looking back.

Wow! That's a pretty good deal.. Your SMP is great, though.suddha wrote:You know, I could have gone either way with the SMP or Aquaracer and been equally content, I think. I still love the Aquaracer. HenryJ has the new Aquaracer with updated bezel. Good upgrade, IMO

Good to see you back and posting, Paul! Have you still been working on "paring down"?
Re: Quick comparo Tag Aquaracer/Omega PO
I really like the dial layout on the TAG every bit as much as the PO. The overall case shape of the Aquaracer just doesn't do it for me though.
Re: Quick comparo Tag Aquaracer/Omega PO
Yeah, I thought the same thing before I got it. I picked it up from the post office, put it on just to wear back home and didn't take it off for about 3 days... (looooong time for me). Now it's usually pretty close, if not already on my wrist. Pretty cool, actually..matt.wu wrote:I really like the dial layout on the TAG every bit as much as the PO. Re: Quick comparo Tag Aquaracer/Omega PO
Good pics and info, Paul I'm still partial to the PO, though. See if you can't keep this one, though
You give respect, you'll get respect - you just don't know your place.
