This match was originally going to be billed as "The Battle of the Dive Watch
Iron Men", but it seem the Seiko has a little more "pretty boy" in it than I had originally anticipated based on pictures. Anyway, I'm doing a head to head comparison of these two watches over the next several days. You may have noticed the separate threads titled "Round #1" & "Round #2" yesterday. This thread will serve to consolidate and summarize the individual comparison threads. Here we go ...
THE SCORECARD :
- Round 01 -- 9,10 #MM wins the round (zulus)
- Round 02 -- 9,10 #MM (lume)
- Round 03 -- 10,8 #U1 scores a knockdown (rubber)
- Round 04 -- 9,10 #MM (bezels)
- Round 05 -- 10,9 #U1 (crowns)
- Round 06 -- 10,9 #U1 (accuracy)
- Round 07 -- 9,10 #MM (power reserve)
- Round 08 -- 10,9 #U1 (dials)
- Round 09 -- 10,9 #U1 (hands)
- Round 10 -- 10,9 #U1 (crystals)
- Round 11 -- 10,9 #U1 (cases)
- Round 12 -- 10,9 #U1 (bracelets)
- Round 13 -- 9,10 #MM (casebacks)

I'm all caught up, excellent thus far! You didn't mention your Sinn bezel impressions. I know it's not a strength, but wanted to hear your description.
This is becoming a classic.

Chris, this review is kicking ass and is very well done. Great job, and not just because the Sinn is doing well.
Looks like we are going past the 12th round...so are we going for a 15 round old school decision?

I think many rounds have been close, and would just come down to personal preference. Awesome to see the two compared as they are so different, yet built for the same purpose.

Got an email this morning from watchbuys saying my order for the last U1 on strap was abruptly cancelled by me at the last step of the process. I'm guessing a Boddington pale ale/St Pauli girl induced action
Hello.
We have received an order from you which appears to be incomplete.
Since this is the last Sinn U1 we have in stock, we wanted to contact you quickly to see if you received an error message or if we may help with this order.
Thank you.

So July is going to be U1 month at DWC (again). I was sure Doxa was gonna make a comeback instead.

I didn't get it. Can't justify the purchase right now plus I don't want to sell any of my pieces either. I'm pretty close to justifying it however after looking at the last 2 I bought from WB and paid more for
. I think by the time the mental justification is in the last one will be gone though. No biggie

Buy it and put it in the safe. It'll go for $3K next year after WB gets through dicking around with the market prices.

I'v done that once or twice before. One time it was for a $3,000 + Sea-Gull Tourbillion.

Okay, I'm going to call it. While most rounds are pretty close individually, the big picture is slanted favorably toward the Sinn in my opinion. I think it is an easy call. I like the Seiko, but if I had to chose one and only one between the two, then there would be no contest.
But before we close this down, let's review a few more relevant points.
- Presence - I give the nod to the Sinn on this one. They both have great wrist presence, but the Sinn is a step above the Seiko, which is too similar to other designs.
- Comfort - The Seiko is definitely more comfortable, as expected since it is smaller and lighter.
- Value & Resale - At the time of purchase, these watches were priced similarly on the used market. Both are an excellent value in my opinion.
- Prestige - Both watches are under the radar when it comes to recognition factor.
- Uniqueness - I've caught myself thinking before that "there are now new ideas" in life. But Sinn disproves that silly nonsense.
- Toughness - The Sinn is a tough, tool watch. The Seiko at least looks a little delicate, with all its shiny surfaces
- Elegance & Refinement - The Sinn is somewhat crude. Seiko definitely takes this category.
- Movement - Again, Seiko handily mops the floor with Sinn in this category.

Best comparative review I've seen. Good work and you are an asset to DWC.
