Re: Round #1: Zulu Showdown (winner = MM)
I never would have believed it, but the Seiko wins this round. It is more comfortable, and it has the fatter springbars (for safety).

nice! i love the Sinn, but i think i prefer the MM300 over it.
Plus i dig nato's over the zulu's. And Nato with PVD hardware.....THAT'S sexy!

Excuse the crappy photography. The red in the strap does match the Sinn's hands, in real life.

Only the "Wu" would notice that and hold it against either the watch or the strap

I believe they're both Zulus, correct? And I like them both. While I love the MM, I just spent a week at the beach with my U1 SDR, and have newfound respect for it.
Just for kicks, here's my U1 on that same Zulu:

Okay, I've been two fisting it all afternoon. I can't take the U1 anymore. There is no contest. I can't tell I'm wearing the Seiko; the Sinn is really on my nerves. I just moved it to a Bond NATO. Different feel, but even more uncomfortable. I feel actual 'pain' sometimes now that there is less bulk material between my wrist and that monstrous watch head.

Now, here is the most amazing part.
141 grams -- Seiko on Zulu
126 grams -- Sinn on Bond
* I think this is probably foreboding for that part of the face-off where we talk specifics on the watch heads ...

Re: Round #1: Zulu Showdown (winner = MM)
It's a long known fact that only real men can handle the U1 on Zulu.
The MM looks great on the Zulu!

Re: Round #1: Zulu Showdown (MM > U1)
Great photos mate
The reason why the U1 may feel a lot more uncomfortable than the MM might have something to do with the straps
I know personally, that I find the 4-ring zulu's WAY more comfortable than the 2-ring (which is why I hardly ever wear them now) because they are much thicker & the added security of having 2 rings on either side of the watch head seems to 'balance out' the weight a bit better & holds the watch more central on my wrist.
In contrast to that I find that the 2-ring zulus tend to let the watch head 'hang' a bit more because the watch tends to fall away from the one side that doesn't have any hardware on it..... for some other reason, I've also found that the 2-ring Maratac straps with the coloured centre stripe seem to be a lot thinner / lighter weight than the solid colour ones which doesn't help either.
Maybe try and swap them over for a bit and see if that has any bearing on how they feel

Good thoughts, I prefer 4 ring Zulus too.

The Seiko would look the best, IMO, on the Timefactors vintage rubber strap... mmmmmm

Good call. You mean the Isofrane homages, right? What's the difference between the "flat" and the other option?

Ummm, I went back and read the instructions :vbuskirk wrote: What's the difference between the "flat" and the other option?
but I'm still not positive which I should buy for the MM300. I'm guessing the 'flat' would be a good choice, as the lugs aren't all that long.?.?.???This strap is now available with a flat end at the lugs and will fit watches with short lugs. To order this, please select "flat" version.

I've never tried to hide my vitriol for NATOs and Zulus, but I have to say I can wear this Seiko with them. First time ever. I have three (olive drab, black & black+tan) and I like them all on the MM.
