IWC Portuguese Review

Post by Boomer » Fri Jun 18, 2010 5:07 pm

Two weeks ago I purchased a grail I'd been wanting for the better part of a year, the IWC Portuguese Chronograph (Reference 371417). This model has the stainless steel case, silver dial and blue hands. It also comes with the blue "croc" strap and stainless buckle.

I've not closely checked the accuracy but it's excellent. I don't recall have to reset the watch since I bought it. All in all, it's a wonderful watch, very distinctive, very attractive and a bit of an icon. I'm very pleased with it and intend to keep it until I pass it some day to a grandson.

Thanks for reading. Chris

PS -- I found the following pics which help illustrate the size of the 40.9mm IWC with the 44mm U1.

I think I would make a great Grandson. Maybe not as 'great' as that watch though. It is undeniably impressive. I kinda wish they were a hair thicker, but it does seem pretty comfortable (in the store at least :raised: ).

I take it you are wearing it [most] every day??? What do you think about the strap? Is it fully broken in yet?

Congrats! Looking forward to the 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year updates ...

Thanks, guys. Actually, I'm not wearing it that much. I have a couple of other pretty good watches that I rotate with the IWC. I still like it every bit as much as the day I bought it, however.

I like the look and feel of the strap a lot. I don't much care for bracelets although they are more comfortable in the summer. It's still a bit stiff but I'm sure it will "limber up" with more wear.

amazing watch, with it being all dial and no bezel it looks just as big or bigger than the u1 on your wrist! Congrats on a true grail!
