Stepping out of my Comfort Zone - and I'm glad I did.....
The Aquaracer 500M has been "on the list" for a long time and it's number came up. Except, with the recent spike in blue in my collection departed Arktis and SMP300 Bond and the "new" SuperOcean, I decided I wanted more color and not another black dial, black bezel watch this time. Behold the Rose Gold Aquaracer: not shiny, polished, blingy yellow gold like but rather a more muted, softer, almost copper(y) rose gold. And the dial is awesome, see below. I'll keep it short for the ADD crowd.
Pros:
* The rose gold gives it a "mature" look or a "refined" look to the watch. The raised numbers are polished but the majority is brushed - nice combination
* Your eyes are drawn into the dial details (softening the impact of the gold bezel). Vertical strpes are deep and the applied markers are "tall" so they stand out from the dial and there is a circle surrounding the applied logo and text - great 3D look - powerful and masculine.
* Second hand is blacked out except for the orange tip so as to not distract from the dial. The orange compliments the rose gold
* Big crown - not a fan of dinky crowns
* Lume is outstanding
Cons:
* 21mm lugs - really?!?
* on the bracelet, it's noticeably heavy. (on leather, however, very nice and easy to wear
* cyclops - but I'm not as date dependant as I used to be so not a deal breaker, plus it's easy to ignore being on the left side of the dail
random thoughts:
* Crown unwinds and winds great and though the stripped crown issue is well known, TAG has just recently reversed their stance and will now fix a stripped crown under warranty. Mine is great, but good decision for TAG.
* 43mm x 14mm - wears larger than 43 but also wears thinner than 14 to me.
Okay, now for what you're really here for:
pay no mind to the small gap of the 20mm strap in the 21mm interhorn
Bracelet matches well with the case and overall look of the watch
Check out the elevation changes and depth to the markers and grooves on the dial
The "Wu" shot

That's nice looking, and I agree with your comments regarding Rose gold. I had my wedding ring made from a gold/copper alloy and it has a subtle warmth that I've never seen YG produce.

Thanks, guys - warmth is a great way to describe it.
I vaguely remember Pat looking at these awhile back, I think he'd like it, too.

Nice, Mike! I've not tried out wearing gold yet, but I'm not averse to it at all. That one looks great.

Thanks, Matt - that's what I mean by being out of my comfort zone - this is my first* foray into gold and so far so good.matt.wu wrote:Nice, Mike! I've not tried out wearing gold yet, but I'm not averse to it at all. That one looks great.
*and by first I mean if you don't count the cool gold chain that was standard issue to high school kids in the suburbs in the 80's

Looks good, Mike. Shoot I've had quite a few two-tone watches (unfortunately no Rose) and although they don't get a huge amount o' wrist time - they still get worn a bit.
Besides TT will come back into fashion...just think about those gawd awful bell bottomed cords.

That is the best looking version. Stick to the bracelet.

Re: Stepping out of my Comfort Zone - and I'm glad I did....
it fits in well with the others as a nice change of pace.
Mike - glad to help enable!
Pat - thanks, this an experiment for me but would a perfect fit for you I think
Chris - the bracelet is great, a little heavy, but not bad and you're right, looks great - natural and blends in with the case really well...plus I don't have any straps that fit perfectly yet
thanks guys!

Beautiful watch, Mike. Congrats! Big fan of rose gold over yellow gold. Textured dial is impressive too. Concur with Chris that bracelet is best looking pairing.
Now get it away from that f*ckin' bird-house...

OK so how are you all doing that hand in a pocket shot?
Camera on a tripod with a timer? Extending your other hand in from of your crotch? What's the trick?

I don't normally like gold, but that one has caught my eye on multiple occasions. Enjoy the rush it provides - we all know it is short lived

I like it. Lots of interesting design goodies on that one.
