Eterna Super KonTiki Heritage

Post by lilhoody » Thu Dec 20, 2012 7:18 am

This piece arrived yesterday evening; here is a quick un-boxing. My initial impressions are favorable. Eterna has done many things right with this watch. The heft doesn't bother me, as I am used to wearing a Kobold SEAL on bracelet.

Despite all it's polished surfaces, the matte dial and brushed mesh bracelet balance out the watch. The hands are funky, but I dig them. I especially like how long the minutes hand is, it soothes my OCD, allowing for more precise setting of time. The bezel is grippy and clicks with authority.

I am not a mesh guy, though it works in this case, as they do on a handful of others, from the era the watch honors. The bracelet hugs the wrist; it's seat belt buckle secures nicely. Speaking of seat belt buckles, it is not easily fastened.

Lume is poor, but I'm not a lume whore, it is simply an observation. The crown and stem are solid, not loose and wobbly. The watch wound and set nicely. Time keeping is unknown, as I have only had the watch about fifteen hours.

Hell yeah, BD! :headbang: Maybe when you tire of it, I'll have the $$ to buy it. Always wanted to try that one out.

It's a fantastic watch which also looks great on leather and an Isofrane.

Thanks guys. Watch reviews aren't my thing, but this piece is deserved of a mini re-review. What can I say that Lex or others had not already said?

What I do know is; this watch hits many design elements I seek/appreciate/like. A throw back from yesteryear, the tonneau case is iconic, it shares DNA with the 6309, Doxa, and even Aqua Dive.

Yes Terry, it is. Someone said it, and I agree...the originals are great, but so many are hacked, frankened, or fake. I wouldn't trust the authenticity, unless my Dad handed it to me.

A hint to those who recommend new guys - don't tell them about the RR. Let them find it on their own.
