Video Review of the Precista PRS-50
Video Review of the Precista PRS-50
My watch review debut!
I found the firewire cable for my digital video camera, so I decided to break it out and do a little review. The camera does a sweet job on the super close-ups!
One thing though, there are a couple of glitches in the vid where a word or two get cut out. I used the Apple Firewire developers kit to capture the feed so I wouldn't have to shell out $80 for iMovie.

man cave... Good review, D - I'm going to have to try my hand at those video reviews some time. Mike's right- you sound pretty mixed about the PRS-50 but you make some very good points about it. Don't hear a whole lot about those - thanks for posting that up dude!

Great review Big D, loved the stuffed animals in the man cave and thought you did a great job with the pros and cons of the watch! Only one question remains, were the jammies on during filming?

I thought that was a very good review, D
Funny hearing your voice, I was hoping you had more of an accent
Oh, and love the man cave, nothing says macho like a couple of stuffed animals

As someone who also owns this watch, I think some of the issues could very well be
from the previous owner. After your review I went back and checked mine for the upteenth
time.
Crown.......even under a 10x loupe is true as true can be. Not a hint of wobble or tilt
through 360 degrees of rotation.
Bezel, a little slop, but no more then my Seiko SUMO. Not enough to where you can make
it stay without it being at a click point.
I do know there were some complaints in this area at the Time Factors forum, so it might not
have been from the previous owner. Mine is also harder appearing to turn. I'm judging on how
easy you turned yours. Mine clicks hard and there's no way I could probably turn it with slippery
fingers. Again, about the same resistance as my SUMO.
Lume on the bezel definitely isn't as good as the rest of the watch, and it's also a different shade
of green. Not overly noticable but noticable. Lume on bezel also doesn't last long on mine, but hands
and dial last into morning.
The serial number on mine is also quite a bit higher on mine. I'm not sure how many were made with
each batch, but I see yours is 0801040 and mine is 0803092, built in May of 08. Eddie could have made
some changes here and there on later models too.
Here's a crappy lume shot of mine
Being that I'll never spend 5000 or more for an old "real" Fifty Fathoms, I enjoy mine alot, and it's pretty
much in constant rotation.
Still, a Very good review.
Regards Sonny

Kenneth, if it will make you happy, I can try a video review and give you a REAL Kentucky accent. But when you can't understand anything I'm saying, just remember, you've been warned

Re: Video Review of the Precista PRS-50
Nice video review. Although written reviews provide more basic information, I think a video gives you a better sense of the watch. I have always had my eye on this one, but after your observations about the lug-to-lug dimension I am leery.

Great video review, Derek!
I had one and really liked the watch, but did not find it fit me comfortably...
probably due to the angle of the lugs and their shape.
I've been trying hard to not keep watches that don't get worn and did sell it, although it was one of those reluctant sales.
