Doxa 1000t Pro Mini Review

Post by 425ranger » Wed Feb 17, 2010 1:29 pm

Well, I got a "new to me" Doxa from Demer03 (thanks!)

(my ripper tribute shot...)
Image

I have to say it is a very comfortable watch. The cushion case is nice and it seems to "reach" down and rest on the wrist at times. Nice.
Image

The bracelet blew me away. It is first class and has a n execellent clasp (kinda the norm now). I did lightly polish the center Rice links... the case has polished side and bezel.. figured the bracelet should shine a bit. The clasp cross lock is also polished. Neat.
Image

The bezel is hard to read, odd for a dive watch. It is two toned, brushed (inner) and polished (outer). Here is a pic that kinda gives you an idea as to it's look in the sun....
Image

It is a shade of orange that is both pleasing and fun, in a summer / water sort of way. Here is my best shot of the shade of orange.... The UnderArmor shirt is darker.
Image

There is something tricky about the proportions. This is a very small wearing 43mm watch. The mild thickness is easy to deal with and the weight is ok. The "sub hatch" effect with the small dial and the cushion case is excellent and attractive. My old 5000t was bigger and not as comfortable IMHO. The bracelet, is the "biggest" wearing 20mm one I have ever had. It just looks bigger then it is. The cushion case is the big reason for all this. It seems to fall away and disappear and the attachments look Big (bracelet) or Small (dial) due to the angles..... Although it does wear like a 40mm watch...

I have the rubber too....
Image

It is very thick and well made. It is fitted to the case and and falls away from it at an small angle.... It is a shade or two off of the dial orange and Matte (it is rubber). I think it would be a great beach / boat use item. Give the bracelet a break....

I would recommend the 1000t wholeheartedly.

Great looking watch, especially on the orange rubber. If they made that rubber for the 5000T I would have one tomorrow.

Bill,

Great pictures and perfect explanation of the size and impression when wearing it.

I feel the same way about my TUSA and you stated it perfectly.

Excellent review and pics, Bill! You'll get used to that bezel - of course, you already had the 5000T Carib (what did you end up doing with that one??). Everybody needs at least one orange Doxa in their stable. COngrats!

I just picked up the orange strap today from Roar; was planning on putting it on the TUSA.

However, it kicks butt on the Pro!

Thinking about getting a 1200t, what size is your wrist? The watch looks great on you, but I keep hearing they wear small. I am wanting to get one of the limited editions, so it is only offered in the 1200. Thanks.

Pretty sure Ranger Bill has Wu like wrists (Sub 5")

I dont really think it wears small much due to the cushion case
The 1200t is a sweet one though, thicker bracelet and even snugger fit on the wrist. Wich model you thinking of grabbing?
