I would have killed for one of those but it was also too expensive. So my Dad got a ‘lesser name’ and spray painted it up to look Schwinn like. He was a master with that spray paint.

I think this year was 26. New ones are 29.

What surly do you have ?

My brother has a an Ogre that he bought like 5 years ago and only road it like 50 miles.

He said he would sell it to me and a hitch bike rack for $850

Is that a good deal?

But I feel like the trek is good enough for me...

yes, buy that Ogre if it is your size.....tell that low life you wanna ride it for a few days to test it --- ..great steel frame -- but has to be the right size.... check Surly site for sizing. should be 26" wheels... might have come with a sweep bar.... great bikes
Were old Ogres ever 26”? I thought they were all 29”.
Depends on year Chris. Older ones were 26. And keep in mind some bikes have wheels based on frame size. A SM or XS frame is tricky with 29’s.
And they added Bridge Club for 27.5.... that made the Ogre 29. Troll is 26. ECR is 29.
KM should be 27.5. Krampus 29.
There are some variations for the smaller frames.

Ben - Ogre is a touring model. You can ride it around town, on single track, on paved, or on gravel. And it has braze ons to add racks. Great bike for long hauling - GAP Trail or OTET Cincy to Cleveland.

I had one of these by AMF. When the Moto-X bikes started happening we couldn’t afford one, so my Dad did the same. He stripped my bike, painted it gunmetal grey metal flake, then had a bike shop install moto-x handlebars, gooseneck, and knobby tires. Loved it.

The size of a Surly is underneath the bottom bracket. They stamp it on the steel.

So in regards to pain.....

So my taint was the problem. The last time I rode was Wednesday for 14 miles. That’s when I was dying to finish just because My ass hurt soo bad.

So today I got on and only did 10miles.

As soon as I got on my bike I felt pain in my lower part of tailbone. Not taint.
So I think that I was shifting around so much on Wednesday that I ended up sitting weird and now my tailbone is hurt.

I’m so frustrated as I know I can go way longer of a ride but these damn ass and tailbone pains are holding me back.

My neighbor down the road is a runner but started out cycling when he was young. He has a collection of road bikes and I stopped by to talk to him today.

He checked me out on the bike and said the only tweak he would make is moving my handle bars slightly forward, but said the height looks good on me.

He rides on saddles that are not padded. He also rides with padded underwear and wears shorts on top.

He basically said rest when I’m hurting but it’ll just take time for my body to get used to it.

Anyway, I think I’ll be looking for padded panties now.

My seat:

For longer rides you have to strengthen your core: spine and hips. This will allow you to stay in a more supportive position. You’ll use the larger stabilizer muscles rather than put the burden on the smaller muscles that aren’t made for that.

Ok my bro got the bike out of his garage, wiped it down and filled the tires.
Unloaded it out of my 4Runner and I look down and the damn chain broke!!

I don’t know if it can go back together or if it needs a new one. I’ll take it to my neighbor tomorrow and see what he says.

I sat it next to my trek and it’s about the same size.

Was excited to ride it but I’ll have to wait. Maybe my ass will be healed you then.

That’s newer than 5-6 years old. I think that green was 3-4 year’s ago. Looks in great shape.
