To all you motorcycle riders out there
To all you motorcycle riders out there
Please be careful
Earlier today my girlfriend and I rendered assistance at an accident scene on a back rd in the woods of Maine. Small crossover hit a Harley head on. My gf was a certified EMT yrs ago and went into action. Rider succumbed to her injuries on the roof of the vehicle while gf was trying asses her injuries (less than min after getting there). I tried calming the 20yo driver. We're both still shacken up. Somewhere right now there are some very heartbroken loved ones
Ride safe and hug your loved ones extra tight tonight

Was she wearing a helmet?
I see so many more fatalities here in Florida than I did in NY because of the helmet laws.

Sad to hear. Thank you to your girlfriend for jumping in to help.

Will do, thanks. We're both working on liquid therapy. I'm grilling some steaks from the local butcher right now

The loss of life is terrible, but you and your girlfriend have been through something awful as well. I can't imagine what that's like.
Re: To all you motorcycle riders out there
I’m sorry you had to go through that.
I saw there was a major bike accident with 7 casualties in NH today as well.

I was thinking the same. At the same time I see so many people riding with only a helmet, and I’m just like “what about the rest of you”. If you’re not going to protect the rest of your body why even bother with the helmet? I’m in gear head to toe whenever I ride. I like my skin, my head, my bones, and my life. She was doing all the right stuff- detachable chin helmet (chin was on the other side of the rd from her), jacket, Jean's, boots..Erratic101 wrote:I was thinking the same. I was busy with the driver and didn't want to look at the rider too much. Gf described what she saw up close during dinner and it was truly horrifying. I won't repeat what she told me. Even if there was an ambulance on scene when we arrived the rider wouldn't have made it
We went out and did some fishing with my son after dinner. Really took the edge off. Gf was pulling em out of the pond every 3 mins. She's in better spirits now after gloating about her using worms and my utter failure with the spinner bait

That's a terrible situation to be in. I can't imagine coming across a scene like that, and well done to your GF.

This one has a photo of the bike. I'll never get the sight of it as I ran past out of my brain

Wow. That’s a heavy experience for sure. You GF is a champ. Most people would run from this. Sad to see how fragile our lives really are.
