Anyone ever used Dinan for BMW? Have looked into doing a stage 1 tune of my X5M but it is not cheap.

I have not but I have rode in some Dinan tuned BMW's. They are sweet but the prices are beyond crazy.

Chris I forgot to mention ESS Tuning. They are a great company to work with https://esstuning.com/bmw/

Back when I followed BMWs, Dinan was viewed by the hardcore track types as decent enough (but not the best) and very very very expensive. He's doing what most other guys are doing but charging a huge premium for his name. He's the "Trusted Seller DavidSW" of BMW tuning. In fact, Dinan is probably the preferred guy for know-nothing TRF types.

Would a retune on a dieselgate TDI be advisable?

Those are tuned all the time. Engines are pretty tough. Can really crank up the torque with a tune.
At one time my buddies at NGP racing had one pushing over 500hp. The TDI is a good tuneable engine, if anything they are better than most gas versions.
I’m looking to return/increase performance on my newly acquired 2013 jetta TDI to pre diesel gate tuning. It’s primarily a work/commuter car and I want the best mileage I can get. Any recommend tuners to use? Simple reflash do it? Sorry for all the questions but new to the TDI and tuning. Thanks guys

Hamman fits in this category also. That is why I like ESS, they are not like the others.

You got it. There is quite a few dudes here that know their stuff. I am not a VW guy as much since I stopped messing with them in the early 2000's but some of these other dudes are for sure.

Yes, but that long VW engine warranty would be pretty much DOA.

We had a 2013 TDI and it was very reliable up to 70,000 miles when VW bought it back. The TDI engines are very solid, it is other little things that get you.....

The only issue we had with ours.... There is a little flap/valve inside the fuel filler that keeps you from putting a regular gasoline pump nozzle in which broke, so we couldn't fill it up..... just out of warranty VW dealer actually told us that VW only sells this as a full tank assembly and it is $1600 to replace the entire unit from the tank to the filler cap.

I watched a youtube video and was able to pop out the flap in 30 seconds with a coat hook and problem was solved.

Bootmod3 for BMW 3 series certainly do. Plug-and-play DIY tuning that takes less than an hour. I'm in process at this time.

I was referred to a guy in lynnwood who installs malonetune on TDI’s. Have to do a little research before I decide if I want to move forward. Any of the DWC VW guys have any advice about malonetune?
