No IMS issues with the 996TT actually. They are a great buy. If I could make one happen, I would.SoCal C4S wrote:996TT is a great buy these days. If you can find a relatively low mile example that has had the IMS bearing issue addressed, it’s a great deal and value.

Right, Mezger engine doesn't have an IMS bearing.dukerules wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:58 amNo IMS issues with the 996TT actually. They are a great buy. Re: Car Spotting
Was thinking of the non-TT 996’s- my bad. Was an issue in those.

So odd. This is an absolutely immaculate Chevy Cavalier Z24. Showroom condition. Who does that?

That is fantastic. Love how steel wheels can look terrific on the right car.amckiwi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 9:57 pm1B4D8A7B-3376-4AEE-B880-A95B470FC1C0.jpegADAD1D67-E3C5-48F3-9AD3-DC52C5DAFF18.jpeg

My mistake. It was a Cavalier like this one:

I worked with a girl in the early '90s who drove one of those (not a convertible). She let me take it for a spin. It was actually pretty fun to drive (it had the 5-speed manual). Still, not the sort of car that one would preserve for future generations.
BTW, the hotted-up Celebrity was the "Eurosport".

It's all relative. That was kind of a dark time for cars. The Pontiac 6000 STE was pretty cool, too.
Re: Car Spotting
I’m still baffled at how pristine this thing was. I couldn’t get my camera up fast enough for a better photo. It looked like it just rolled out of the dealership.

Re: Car Spotting
I thought the IMS problem was only an issue on the naturally aspirated models? Either way I love the 996 and I’ve thought about eventually picking up a 911 as weekend car at some point. Not so much now being out of work, but eventually I think a 996 will be the choice.
Re: Car Spotting
I knew a guy in high school who had a Cavalier Z24. His older brother had an Iroc-Z Camero. Grandpa bought both their cars, and the younger brother chose the Z24 over an Iroc. Go figure.Selym wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 4:13 pmI worked with a girl in the early '90s who drove one of those (not a convertible). She let me take it for a spin. Re: Car Spotting
I remember driving my buddy to the local Land Rover dealership years ago in my Jeep and parking next to a Defender 90.
A salesman saw me checking the Defender out and started telling me about how their sales staff was taken on an off-road driving skills class. As he finished his story he said “...and the instructor drove a Jeep just like yours.”
How to not sell a Defender.
I still like them though.
