Saw a nice ‘72? de tomaso pantera in canary yellow going the opposite direction on Main Street in old placerville, ca (hangtown).
I wasn’t quick enough to get my phone into photo mode so all could do was roll down the driver side window and appreciate the rumble as it drove by.

literally lost count of the number of maclarens, ferraris, lambos, g-wagons, rover sports, etc. tooling around that city (didn't even mention porsche b/c the 911 is the accord/camry of that town and the macan/cayenne is the f150, seriously like every third car on the road was a p-car/suv).
crazy.

Yes, graduated licensing program. My first car (in 1986) was a 65' Plymouth Valiant...Selym wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 7:22 amDoes that indicate a novice licensee?JDC222 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 6:48 amHow many had “N”s on the back?jtbenson wrote:was in vancouver last week on vacation, and if i had started taking pictures of all the amazing vehicles driving around and parked on the street, i would have had no time to do anything else.

I did impound a Ferrari 458 (I think) on a test drive...I am pretty "reasonable" most of the time but 185km in a 60km zone...bye bye car.

Re: Car Spotting
Having a super fancy car in a big city doesn’t appeal to me at all. My parked at work shit box civic got hit and run by some asshole within 6 months of driving in every day.
I’d need to be so incredibly rich to leave a nice car parked all day without supervision.

That's why I stopped driving my 'nice' car to work and started commuting in my wife's old 2001 BMW 3-series. It runs great with 216K on the clock but cosmetically it's seen better days - perfect for shopping mall parking lots and doing battle with stone-slinging trucks on the freeways.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 9:31 amHaving a super fancy car in a big city doesn’t appeal to me at all. Re: Car Spotting
I totally agree. I’d really like a Subaru WRX STi. It would be perfect for my 3 mile commute - fun to drive, sporty, awd for the winter. Every time I almost buy one, I think back to how pissed I was to find my civic hit and then decide against it. Finding a nice new car hit would probably give me an aneurysm.logan2z wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 9:35 amThat's why I stopped driving my 'nice' car to work and started commuting in my wife's old 2001 BMW 3-series. Expensive watches are so much easier to live with than a fancy car.

Great Policing Dave, tragically in South Australia the driver of a Lamborghini Gallardo recently lost control of his vehicle and killed a 15 year old girl on the foot path in a 60km zone. He'll end up being someones bitch in the big house.JDC222 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 9:13 amNot that one!CGSshorty wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 9:05 amWas this you, Dave?

Good! That's where he belongs. The only thing better, would be to give him to the girl's Father93 Turbo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 2:42 pmGreat Policing Dave, tragically in South Australia the driver of a Lamborghini Gallardo recently lost control of his vehicle and killed a 15 year old girl on the foot path in a 60km zone. You should get one while you still can. Compared to most other cars on the market, the WRX STi is still pretty analog.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 9:42 amI totally agree. They’re selling the current version until at least 2020, so I still might. Lots of house related expenses though.Selym wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 4:40 pmYou should get one while you still can. Re: Car Spotting
the N thing is interesting, I could see that being a useful thing in the states, but it's a bit scarlet letterish.
as to JPs point about cars in cities, I did witness a very close call one day at lunch in Vancouver...I didn't want to disturb the great lunch i was having with my wife to shoot video of it, but I noticed a very young man drop a 458 with a valet of the restaurant we were in. guy comes inside the restaurant, meets up with some others waiting for a table. meanwhile the valet accidentally puts the car in launch mode with the revs banging off the limiter with the front bumper about one foot behind a delivery truck. guy hears it, goes running outside waving arms and screaming. valet switches off ferrari, gets out and after a brief discussion, they agree to leave it parked where it was.

Saw a Bentley the other day, but couldn’t get a pic. Had a Palm Beach dealership license frame. Not surprised - I’ve been to PB and never felt more poor in my life.
Re: Car Spotting
track pack is a no cost option for ROW cars, but not technically available as OEM in the States due to DOT restrictions.
so, any half cages in cars in the US were sourced and installed after delivery.
Re: Car Spotting
When I moved to my area I remember being shocked when I saw a Continental GT in a Walmart parking lot.
My perspective of “rich” was again readjusted when I saw a Silver Cloud rolling through town being driven by a chauffeur.
There is some seriously big time old money around here in the summer, but they are all just jealous of my old, surf board-loaded, Tacoma.
