My latest Klunker...

Post by JDC222 » Sat Jan 12, 2019 8:29 pm

I’ve been gathering parts for my early 60’s Schwinn frame. I used a 26” BMX fork, instead of the original fork, 26” black BMX alloys, with coaster brake and front Bulldog brake. I swapped the original cranks out for a 175cm one piece, with MKS pedals. A blue anodized Suntour stem, with big’ol motorcycle handlebars. The Brooks saddle is from the 70’s, mounted on a 13/16 layback post...

The old school klunker’s are super fun to ride...on the flat lol.

That Brooks saddle is beautiful. Oil it up and it will be good for another 40 years.

Fun build!

That looks like a fun beach cruiser.

I’ve been thinking about mounting a surf board rack to my old cyclocross bike to give me more incentive to ride. Plus, I feel a bit wasteful driving my truck less than 2 miles just to go to the beach from my house. Not only is it kinda wasteful of resources, I believe short trips like that really aren’t so good for the truck either.

The leather on the Brooks is amazing! I rubbed it down with Proofide last week, so soft!!
