Jack Ryan
Re: Jack Ryan
My wife and I also binged this over the weekend. Really enjoyed it.
Re: Jack Ryan
Do they make Ryan a badass out of the gate or does he go through an “situational evolution” like Dr. Ryans of the past?

Jack Ryan
He’s not like a Bourne or a Wick, he’s more like a “I know how this stuff works and I’ll do it if I have to” kinda guy.sierra11b wrote:Do they make Ryan a badass out of the gate or does he go through an “situational evolution” like Dr. Ryans of the past?
Kinda like when someone is standing in front of a copy machine and need to make a bunch of color-2 sided-collated-stapled-and hole punched copies to go into 5-inch divided three ring binders and the machine shits the bed a little bit: I kinda like to think I know how to jump in and fix it and get it done - and maybe there’s a time when I would or do - but mostly imma gonna SEE that it happened and then GO BACK to my office and start working on something else until someone else recognizes it and decides to fix it and clean it up.
It’s more like that, he’s like that guy, the guy that recognized it and decided to fix it and clean it up.
It stops short of that guy then walking down to the first guys office and sticking his chest out, all proud, and saying “Hey man, just to let you know: I fixed the copier”. Which is good because then the guy who ignored it - because it really wasn’t THAT BIG of a deal - doesn’t have to say, while sipping a blend of ripped fuel and Black Rifle Coffee while casually surfing porn on a government computer AND fucking with his new fusion goggles, “...because you’re a bitch, Carl.”
I’d say it’s like that.

Re: Jack Ryan
Without giving away any spoilers, he starts as an analyst in the present day (so no Cold War - focus on terrorism). But, as with the novels, he has a military (marines) background and survived a helicopter crash. So sort of the same - he gets thrust into more of an operations role pretty quickly.
I also like the series take on James Greer. They're giving him a much more interesting background than existed in the novels or the movies.

Re: Jack Ryan
We finished the season last night. Only 8 episodes... went by too fast. Can’t wait for the next one...
Anyone knows when they plan to air the next season ? (Assuming it’s been renewed )

It was renewed for season 2 before season 1 even started. Air dates are not announced yet. Not sure if they have even started filming.Jeep99dad wrote:We finished the season last night. Only 8 episodes... went by too fast. Can’t wait for the next one...

Watching season 2 of Ozark (which is fantastic), and then this is up. Also re-watching Breaking Bad. I feel I'm making up for my boring life by my TV series choices these days.

Re: Jack Ryan
There are definitely some WTF moments in it, so I would not recommend it for little ones. It is based on the area I grew up at, but most of the filming is done in GA.Jeep99dad wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 8:04 pmThanksGrahamcombat wrote:Drug trafficking + money laundering + murder + twistsJeep99dad wrote:What’s Ozark about ?dukerules wrote:Watching season 2 of Ozark (which is fantastic), and then this is up. Yeah we watched the first 3 yesterday and I had a few WTF moments my wife was hoping it wouldn’t get weirder. We’ll see but not sure she’ll be up to watching the whole season I’ll probably continue but it’s definitely weird-City.unsub073 wrote:There are definitely some WTF moments in it, so I would not recommend it for little ones. I agree with the kid warning. We’d never let Zoe watch a non-PG show or movie we haven’t vetted. Too much crap on tv th se days polluting kids brains.

Through 5 episodes and absolutely love it. Also watching The Handmaids Tale (excellent but twisted). Ozark is up next and rewatching last season of GOT soon as it seems that was 7 years ago!

The answer is that, yes, there will be a season 2 of Amazon’s Jack Ryan. In fact, new cast members have already been announced (Krasinski and his boss, Jim Greer – Wendell Pierce – are returning). When will season 2 be available to stream? Although the exact release date has yet to be announced, the show’s filming is already underway, and it should be available to stream in 2019, according to Deadline.
