I just bought a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport with 1063 miles for $20,500 at Carmax.
Not very exciting, but good looking, comfortable, and gets decent mileage.

I’ve heard great things about Hyundais from serious car mavens. Service, reliability, etc.

Good choice.
I am exploring 2014/15 3 series xDrives. A little concerned about the fixes but if I can find a 335 it'll be fun to drive.

Like the looks of the new Accord but won't be able to find one at $20K. Civic Si could be an option.

I recently got a loaded 2014 Edge Sport for $24k. If you didn’t mind going a couple years older for an SEL model I’m sure that’s doable.
Not sure how heavily it classifies as fun to drive, but it’s a 3.7L 305hp V6 with a 6 speed auto with paddle shifters, AWD and a sub 6 second 0-60. I still enjoy goofing around with it and I used to daily drive muscle cars. It’s my wife’s daily and she loves it. I couldn’t really say if the SEL drives as nice, I’ve never driven one.
The only shot I could find of it when we were picking it up from the dealer.

I still really want a WRX.... because I couldn't afford one when I was in college.
But as a family we also enjoy going to camp and secluded beaches... so a Tacoma or 4runner are also contenders for me (wife's SUV is not 4x4).

Me too.
Don't think I could get away with it for business though.

That's really sharp, Heath.

I negotiated a brand new Si down to 21k. I decided I couldn’t have a car with a manual as my second car as my wife can’t drive it. That would have been a fun commuter.

I might be in a similar spot. Unless... she just never drives it.

When you say second car, is it second car for the family or second car for you?

Whatever you buy go pre-certified. We've done it twice and it was well worth it.

And here I thought my car has decent gas mileage at 38 city and 50 highway... The 4runner is way cooler though!
