Spent a fortune on new tires in last couple days. Snow sucks around here. Today drove over 70 miles and have 50 to drive back home tonight. Forecast calling for more snow. Nice snow rig Dave.jeckyll wrote:Fucking snow indeedJDC222 wrote:P4X tonight...F-ing snow!

Roads are brutal today!! It rarely snows here, so no one knows how to drive.
The P4X is awesome in the snow!

Just revived the C5 allroad. 210k on the clock. Had it since new. Lived most of its life as an auto tranny, but when that went out, I decided on doing a manual swap. finished up last night.

I miss my old Audi's all red center console (and the retractable cup holder). At night I used to pretend I was flying a space ship.

Thanks! My partner at work has been bugging me to get one for a while now. I’ve been reading info on the FB forums ... lots of interesting posts.

I'm on Tacomaworld - same username.
The good news / bad news aspect is there is a huge aftermarket add on / enhancement supplier network. Like watches, Tacoma's can easily and quickly empty your wallet.
Headstrong offroad is solid vendor with good prices. Avid makes a nice lightbar for the front.

Very nice Dave! Let me know how you like it. If all goes to plan, I will be picking a similar one (still not sure between 4x4 sport or 4x4 off-road yet, but that is the color I want) next month.

Re: What do you drive???
So far I really like it. The Off Road has more of the options that I wanted...I don’t need the hood-skewp on the Sport. With the 5 yr bumper to bumper, all maintainable included, I’m good to go!Joeprez wrote:Very nice Dave! Let me know how you like it. I have a bed rack coming for my RTT, rock sliders and I’ll be set.

Re: What do you drive???
I don't care about the hood scoop either, although I like how it looks. Couple of friends have recommended the Sport as it will be my daily driver for the first one or two years, after that I will become the weekend toy (if all goes according to plan). Apparently the Sport behaves better on the highway than the off road, but I wonder if the difference is not that much.

I own a Sport but would recommend you buy either an Off Road edition or a SR5 4X4.Joeprez wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 7:39 amI don't care about the hood scoop either, also I like how it looks. Apparently the Sport behaves better on the highway than the off road, but I wonder if the difference is not that much.
Here is my logic:
- The Sport does have slightly tuned shocks and 17 inch rims. That said, many guys will swap out the shocks for Bilstein 4600's (stock) or 5100's (if they lift the truck a bit), so the stock shocks don't really matter.
- The 17 inch rims on the Sport look good versus the 16 inchers on the Off Road, but you can purchase 17 inch rims off a Toyota 4Runner for next to nothing (I paid $250 for mine when my old rims got some curb rash). Dealers take off the stock 4Runner rims for dealer installed upgrades on new trucks and pretty much give away the old (new) rims. Toyota 6 lug rims pretty much fit across all models. The 17 inch rims allow for a "big brake kit" if you wish to do so (not possible with the 16 inch rims.
- The Off Road includes some nice features such as hill decent and quasi lockers (I say "quasi" b/c Toyota uses the ABS brakes to stop the spinning tire and not a mechanical locker). These are not available on the Sport.
Bottom line is I can turn an Off Road into a sport for about $600 worth of shocks and rims. I cannot easily turn a Sport into an Off Road.
Third option - buy the base SR5 4X4 and buy your own 17 inch rims, install a true ARB air locker, and add legit trail armor (instead of the lightweight aluminum crap Toyota puts on from the factory). You'll pay less than you would for an Off-Road and have a more capable machine. The downside is people want the Off Road, so those really hold their resale value, especially when compared to modified rigs.
