I too owned a couple Volvos in the 90's. Probably would not be here if I was driving a different car one morning early in 1998 on 280 and swerved to avoid a baby deer going about 65. Hit a very solid wall still going at least 50. Walked away with just some sore ribs. At least from my experience, Volvos were safe as shit even before all the new avoidance tech.
Also made me a firm believer in air bags.

Re: Unboxing.
looks aggressive and packed with tech, too - I'd be looking at one if I were in the market.
I know you get free service but I've heard stories about it costs twice as much to get the oil changed or new tires?!? - wives tales / internet rumor ??
congrats!

Re: Unboxing.
It was an 850 Turbo. Thing was a rocket - well, for a Volvo at the time
Friend of mine got one, as soon as I drove it I had to have one.

What I took from that article is Uber is losing $600 million a quarter which, to me the layman, seems like 1) a lot and 2) not very sustainable.

I had a V70r years ago. I loved it , but I absolutely hated it. It got traded in after almost 1 year of ownership. I lost big on it but it stayed in the shop for almost 6 months.

They're banking on self driving cars obviating the need for independent contractor-drivers.Grahamcombat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 2:28 pmWhat I took from that article is Uber is losing $600 million a quarter which, to me the layman, seems like 1) a lot and 2) not very sustainable.

thx buddy, BTW great to see you peek out of the shadows every once in a while!!
Re: Unboxing.
Yeah I should swing by more often. We went by the mall earlier today and they have a new S90 along with a Bently Bentayga on display right now. The new long wheelbase S90 is pretty sweet.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Re: Unboxing.

That is, but in the happiest country on earth (Denmark) the lowest priced XC90 is about $185,000 and if you pimp it out with metallic paint, leather, bigger wheels, electronics and stuff it will cost about $265,000 - the B&W sound system is an additional $13,000. Basically, if you add all the options, it will cost over $300,000!ericf4 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2017 7:53 amjames80 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2017 7:50 amTrinidad, 67.5% import duty and US$8.50 per CC motor vehicle tax at registration as well as 12.5% VAT for cars with an engine between 3000 and 3500cc.ericf4 wrote:HOLY SHIT, where are you? $10420 down, and $658 p/month (Volvo finance deal), might be cheaper from an independent place.
Nice car Eric.
