RIP Tom Petty
Petty was found unconscious in his Malibu home on Sunday night, and was rushed to a local hospital in full cardiac arrest. He was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, and ultimately was taken off life support on Monday, CBS News reports.

Very sad. I’ve seen him in concert more times than I can count. Brilliant musician.

Damn...amazing musician. Pretty shitty day all around.
Re: RIP Tom Petty
Terrible, loved a lot of his songs.
Re: RIP Tom Petty
my inlaws passed on an opportunity to go to california with friends for the recent show. they were just saying last night over dinner that they regret that decison. moreso now i'm sure.
Re: RIP Tom Petty
I was a huge Petty fan in college. It sounds like the death reports were premature and they are now saying there is no confirmation of his death. I hope he pulls through, but it doesn't sound good.

^^^Heard the same, but not expected to make it thru the night. Nothing like true investigative reporting the media only seems capable of today. Throw it out there, and be first, and hope it's true.

Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that Tom Petty is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.

Re: RIP Tom Petty
Most def dead:
“On behalf of the Tom Petty family,” said Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, “we are devastated to announce the untimely death of of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty. He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.”
Petty had just completed an extensive tour to mark the Heartbreakers’ 40th anniversary. It concluded Sept. 25 with a three-night homecoming stand that sold out at the Hollywood Bowl.
Totally sucks, but if you're going to go out, sounds like he picked the right way to do it.
My beginning guitar classes already know free fallin', so I'll start the day with that one tomorrow.

Re: RIP Tom Petty
Well I’m glad that a lot of fans had opportunity to see him on this last tour, and especially at such a special venue as the Hollywood Bowl. He also played at Red Rock which I’m sure was pure heaven.
