I've thought about that several times. Every few years seems that someone at work gets hit and badly injured. Always puts a damper on that topic for me.
It's got to be in your blood. Bikes are inherently dangerous, but I always feel invigorated after riding mine. If you don't love them, there's no good reason to ride them. Your 29x's more likely to die in a m/c accident than a car accident.

I really miss having a motorcycle, but there is no way I'd ride down here in south Florida. Between the old people and the illegal immigrants you are taking your life in your hands just commuting to work.
Worst drivers I have ever seen are all down here.

I'd never ride down there either. The roads are boring as hell and the drivers are distracted, angry, and incompetent. If I didn't live in an area with fun, twisty roads, I'd quit riding.

I had a motorcycle for a few years. Between my wife working in a Traumatic Brain Injury unit and my time spent in the OR watching them put guys back together after bike wrecks, I decided that it may not be the best idea. Especially in this area.
It's a matter of when you have an accident, not if.

I really wish I liked the GTI's. Leaning towards the Focus ST at this point.

I don't know how the depreciation is on these, but I just rented an Infinity Q50 sedan with the 3.0T engine and that thing hustled. Lots of acceleration off the line and even a lot on tap at 80 MPH. In Japan, the car is sold as the Skyline which has a good reputation as a performance sedan.

Quick Google of the specs for the car are twin turbo 3 liter V6 producing 300 HP and about 300 Ft/lbs of torque. 0-60 @ 4.5 seconds. 7 speed automatic trans.

The car was quick, quiet and really comfortable to drive. My only gripe is the info system (radio, climate, etc.) is kind of complex and not intuitive. Then again, this is a gripe I have with a lot of new cars. What the hell do I know - I drive an old pick-up at home with knobs for this kind of stuff.

Speaking of depreciation, if you can stomach repair costs the used luxury car market is a great option.

Not without a warranty.

You can get a great deal on a preowned 3 series for example. But... once you hit 100K and have repairs, you are screwed.

I love my G37, and will likely buy a V6-powered Q50 when the time comes to replace the G (if they're still making them).

Anyone driven an Audi S4?

I'm looking at 2013 and 2014 versions - Looks like you can get a decent one for around 30k. That seems like a really good bargain after previously shopping for full size trucks and SUV's.

four doors, AWD, crazy fast, decent gas mileage, and seems to be somewhat reliable for a German car..

Similar to the A4 from the standpoint of value to dollar and reliability. I wouldn't buy one unless it was CPO'd until 100K. Repairs off CPO will be a boatload of $$$ so keep that in mind. Also, being an S series, I would have the car closely checked over by a Audi specialist if you purchase privately as people have a tendency to beat on these as they are wicked fun to hammer.
