Saw Valarian last night
Saw Valarian last night
Saw Valerian last night.....it was like Avatar meets Tron with a left turn at Star Wars illegitimate little brother's house. Great looking but certainly not great. At all....

Re: Saw Valarian last night
Trailer did not look good, and casting of the leads was very perplexing.
However, re Star Wars, the Valerian comics pre-dated Star Wars by quite a bit, and many of the events in the original trilogy mirrored events in the comics. The Valerian creator was pretty miffed at Lucas for the similarities.

Casting was odd c'mon.....Rutger Hauer, Herbie Hancock......enough said. Totally weird.

Was it as bad as Dune?

Damn that's tough. At least this was shorter I think...maybe just wishful thinking.

I thought it looked cool. Very light on plot and acting was pretty crappy. There were more than a few times I looked over at Max my 7yr old to see if he was even into it. Save your money and time for anything better.Axelay2003 wrote:Trailers look amazing though.

The trailer visuals looked pretty. Weird(ish) aliens, space ships/stations, CGI effects ... seen them before. What the trailer didn't have was any kind of chemistry between the leads, or even believable actors for the leads. No drama. No excitement. No humor.
I'm waiting for video release on this one.
if you want to see some good recent sci-fi, watch the three new 20min shorts from Neill Blomkamp's Oats Studio. Full big budget effects and actors (Sigourney Weaver, Dakota Fanning). DWC will likely appreciate Firebase (Vietnam War + sci-fi) the most. But I thought Zygote had the best acting and Rakka had the best visual effects. Each packs more drama, emotion, and plot into 20min than most Hollywood sci-fi movies manage in 2 hours.

Agree.
Many times the movie creature disappoints.
But in this case, you look at the creature and think, "Man, that thing is just wrong. Whoever thought of that has some serious mental problems ..."

It's always seemed like an "I'm too lazy to find the remote and change the channel" kind of movie to me.

Saw, Dunkirk over the weekend. I thought was good but not great. It was interesting the way they film it so bonus points for doing something different. No where near saving private Ryan, IMO.

Just watches the Oats Studios shorts...OMG love them...The cooking with Bill ones are very strange indeed.foodle wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2017 1:22 pmThe trailer visuals looked pretty.
