Audiophiles.. need help (iPhone to AUX)

Post by Heuerville » Sun Apr 30, 2017 5:18 am

I've dug out my 26 year old Panasonic boom-box, and it's working perfectly. Sound quality is amazing!

Is there a product that lets me plug my iPhone into the Aux port?
I've googled it, but it's all overwhelming with Audiophile geek stuff that I don't understand!

Which iPhone do you have? If it is the older model with the headphone jack, that should work. The only challenge would be if the iPhone jack and the aux in port where different sizes, as hen you would need a specialty cable.

If a newer iPhone, you'd need a Bluetooth receiver that had an RCA jack built in. I'm certain they are available somewhere on Amazon.

The newer iPhones with no headphone port come with an adapter inside the box. The adaptor is also sold by Apple for a couple dollars. Simply take a generic aux cable and plug into both phone & boom box, using aforementioned adapter of it's an iPhone 7.

What does the port on the boom box look like? RCA?

What you probably need is this:

Mini Jack to RCA

It's Aux In. Left & Right (one red, one yellow)

If you'd like to keep the freedom of Bluetooth buy this logitech Bluetooth receiver. It can take headphone jack or RCA.

I use it at work and it's great with an old bose radio

That looks good. I presume I can stream music/podcasts from my laptop too?

If your laptop has Bluetooth yes. You just need the cabling from Bluetooth receiver to boom box

Stupid question.. does the bluetooth receiver need to be plugged into the electric, or can it draw power via the aux cables?

Looks like it takes power from the mains via an AC/DC adapter.

Yeah that's a drawback if you need portability.
