1) sounds like he can't simply buy another one with the insurance money as it sound slick it was bespoke to some degree

2) I would obviously need high performance driving lessons if/when I get my Porsche :)

I hope the business owner has other skills. He might as well close up the shop after a clown show like this.

I'd say the owner is saying he was driving the car, when in fact I believe the claimed passenger was behind the wheel and the car got away from him.

Just say'n. J

You may be right but not sure it really matters much. The shop owner was ultimately responsible for the car, so if he was driving or he let someone else drive it's still on him.

The older I get, the less sense a really fancy car makes to me. It's just too big and too obvious - you can't ever really be sure it's not going to get screwed up.

Ugh. Makes me sick reading this. Such a waste of an incredible car. But if that dumbass turned off the electronic nannies, a 911 will bite you if not careful.

You'd want to think that anyone in that business would be a least smart enough not to let other people drive customers cars and not to hammer customers cars yourself.

My ex's sister was a service writer (and later manager) at a high end dealership. I wouldn't assume anything positive about dealership people, based in what I saw/heard.

Probably more from an insurance perspective, the owner should be all over how these cars handle. I bet his insurance company will be scouring local CCTV footage where they can get this , if it shows he wasn't driving, I hope he's got a lot of cash laying around. Insurance Underwriter's love taking your $, but they'll do anything not to pay out on a policy… J

Lots of joy rides, bondo and repaints, and cars dropped off lifts.

That's why I take my car to an independent where I can wait and watch the work being done.

Sounds like some shit Hennessey would have done.

I was a service writer for Mercedes for a few years and then for a Audi/VW Tuner shop on the East Coast in Maryland. I saw some serious bullshit at the dealer. Our tuner shop was super anal about customer cars. They didn't play. That is why they are still one of the top shops in Maryland.
