Caffeine and Exotics - LOTS of Pictures

Post by rockmastermike » Mon Aug 22, 2016 6:56 am

Drove up to Atlanta for the Caffeine and Exotics car show. As the title suggests this one is for the exotic cars (with a few vintage thrown in for good measure) There is one for the older/muscle cars later called Caffeine and Octane.

Great pics. I see the engine shot, but where are pics of the Pantera?

Very cool. Every once in a while I think about buying one of those Acura NSX as fun car. Then I realize I have two kids looking at college...

Awesome pics Mike, looks like they had a great turnout. Love the white 993 and GT4. Could live without the Hello Kitty-mobile, though :)

Older cars are certainly slow by modern standards, but can be fun nonetheless. My now-departed '87 Carrera could get trounced off the line by a Honda Accord but I still loved it :)

It's true. Unfortunately for the nsx it was slow when it was new and it shared an engine with a Honda Accord! Cool looking and reliable though.

IMHO a five second car is all you need on public roads.

Yes, this was my thoughts on the NSX as well - cool looking and reliable. I would want a car to drive, not to worry about maintaining.

The reality, at least here in New England, is there really aren't many roads capable of supporting high speed. You'd have to get to northern Maine to get a chance to really open a car up, but ME SP, NH SP and even VT SP use airplanes to catch those who make the trip north with that intent. Every couple of weeks we hear somebody make the news.

The best high-speed tool around here is a sport bike where you can get to ludicrous speed in a heart beat and then dive below the radar quickly. I've been there, done that. The idea now would be to have a cool, unique, reliable ride my wife and I could buzz around in.

I think you're being very hard on it, the NSX wasn't that slow, sub 5 sec 0-60 in the early 90s? Also the engines (3.0 and later 3.2) were only used in the NSX. The prelude on the other hand was pretty much an Accord with two doors.

My recollection was more like 5.2, with the exception of the zinardi version, and worse with the bloated up targa top versions. It was uniformly slower than a f355 which wasn't exactly a speed demon itself.
