Robert Downey Jr.'s watch collection

Post by giosdad » Thu May 12, 2016 10:36 am

I am a big fan of his acting, don't know much else about him other than he wen't off the rails years ago on drugs.

Watch the video, I got a kick out of his nutty personality in showing his watch collection. His wife has nice taste in watches.

Was sad to see he didn't show his JLC deep sea tribute chrono.

The rest of the video kind of annoyed me when I saw it the other day.

Wow, I guess that's what happens when somebody has too much money. Luxury timepieces become "jewelry" to them.

I thought it was pretty funny. My favorite is that he has absolutely no knowledge about the history of the Speedmaster. It's just a good looking, sporty watch.

He definitely is aloof. I guess when you are the highest paid actor (80 million in 2015) you can act that way with watches that many of us covet (Hulk, speedy) or might never be able to own (Amvox, Bamford)

I like when he said "what is this a Seiko?," referring to when he got the Patek as a gift.

He's in a successful recovery, has a sense of humor and is a watch guy.
Plus he's Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes and a great actor.
And has seriously trained in Kung Fu.

That guy's a riot. But those watches are wasted on him.

I suppose you could say that about a lot of celebrities. Although me may be more of a watch guy, did you ever see Schwarzenegger toss his watches in a drawer?

I like him better as Tony Stark or "Mr. never go full retard" in Tropic Thunder. I think Robert Downey Jr. in that particular video is a very annoying snob wearing an annoying shirt. Fuck GQ! :salute:

It's funny that you guys say those watches are wasted on him, or are upset because he tossed them on the floor. I think it's funny. More than anything he was doing that for the camera. Most people find that funny and only a bunch of watch enthusiasts would get upset. Which is probably what he was going for. Anyone that has the watches he does knows damn well what they are and he knows why he bought each one. I have no doubts that he appreciates those watches.

And honestly who cares?!!! The man earned his money and the right to do whatever he wants with it.

Funny shit. If you saw the video where he brings his ironman arm to the little guy who needed a prosthetic you'd know that was all for the camera.

Yea, but even "acting" like such an asshole for the camera knocks him down a few notches in my book.

I think you are spot on.

Some guys here need to buy themselves a sense of humor. :htfu:
cheers,
