We have liftoff!
I've been talking about doing this for about five years, but just never followed through. But I finally bit the bullet and installed a four-post lift in my single-car garage yesterday. Really happy with the results...

What brand is it? I'll be in the market soon and reviews online are conflicting.

It's a Quality Lift Q4P09:bshappy wrote:What brand is it? I'll be in the market soon and reviews online are conflicting.

It took me a long time to research lifts and make a decision on which to buy. There's a lot of misinformation out there. Very few of the big name lifts are made in the USA anymore. BendPak, Rotary, etc are all made in China. Backyard Buddy comes up in conversation a lot but it's not ALI certified (that was a must for me). The Q4P09 is assembled in the USA, uses an American made power unit but is made from imported 'bio' steel, which is apparently extremely strong. It's designed by Challenger Lift in the USA. The lift is ALI certified.
Although I could have purchased directly from Quality Lift, I ended up purchasing from American Custom Lifts. They design and sell some of their own Made in USA lifts (like the incredible Phantom Park http://aclifts.com/products-2/automotiv ... ing-lifts/) but also sell lifts from Quality Lifts and other manufacturers. It was actually less expensive through ACL and their customer service is excellent.

Re: We have liftoff!
Awesome!
Dumb question...where is the door? Did you get the rails changed or did it already open like that?
My garage is a double, but has 18ft ceilings on one side...I have bad thoughts

Re: We have liftoff!
I had the rails lifted as high as they would go so the door is just shy of the ceiling. That's why it's not visible in the photo I posted. Then I removed the standard garage door opener and installed a wall-mounted opener.andrema wrote:Awesome!
