Most overrated bands in rock history

Post by CGSshorty » Sun Nov 22, 2015 5:56 am

I was discussing this with some friends recently and it was really interesting to hear different points of view on the matter. Which band do you think is most overrated, and why? I say it is The Police. With the exception of a few excellent songs, their albums are mainly filler. I can't think of a single album that has more than 3 or 4 good songs on it.

The Police for sure. Many would argue Led Zep and Pink Floyd; I happen to be a big fan of both, but I think they're overrated.

You people are insane, and the banning will begin soon if this heresy continues.

To be honest, you have to rate to be overrated. That's why Kiss and AC/DC weren't options for me. And to be honest, I love Led Zep and Floyd immensely. Truthfully, I could throw the Stones in there, too. People act like they're the Beatles or something :raised:

EXACTLY. Take Led Zep. All that music was in Jimmy Pages head. That's genius, like it or loathe it.

The stones are just noise.

I don't know how you can even mention AC/DC. Highway to Hell is one of the greatest albums in rock history. They should have quit 20 years ago, but that is another conversation.

And Led Zep and Floyd have no place in this conversation.

Anyone who trashes The Beatles isn't human.

:angryfire:

Speaking of overrated I saw Zeppelin open for Iron Butterfly. Legend has it they almost didn't go on.

Outlandos D'Amour has three good songs. That's about average for a Police album.

It was all based on a few great songs. The rest is crap.

Bruce Springsteen. While born to run is a great album, I feel like so many of his songs sound exactly the same.
