I want this over soon. Prefer a buyback so we can downsize to 1 car since we don't drive anymore. I work from home and the wife now walks 1 block to work...

The plan is out for the buyback. I bought my diesel VW in 2013 for a hair under $30k with taxes. After driving it for 3 years and 60k miles, VW is going to buy it back for $24k. Cannot complain about that. Here is a third party website that tells you what VW will give you based on their charts.

https://agrahamg.github.io/VWBuybackCalculator/

Looks like buyback will begin in October. The kicker is that you just have to bring it in under it's own power. Condition is not taken into consideration, only mileage and model/options. Will be sure to use up all the tire tread. Government is making VW disable the buyback cars. Drill a hole in the block and remove the ECU. Can recycle/salvage the rest.

Excellent. My ex has a Beetle TDI and the numbers on her 2013 look almost identical to yours.

I think she plans to buy a new Honda Civiv Touring edition.

I assume the idea is to really make it hurt for VW to make them an example. I assume they originally thought they could sell them in South America or something. On the plus side, if you drive a gas VW you will be able to find cheap parts at the local pick and pull.

Such a green solution.

It looks like we'll do well with our fully loaded 2013 beetle.

If that's correct we will do well. I'm not opposed to buying another TSI Passat, VW and Penske have been good to us.

While VW dealers are independent, I'm sure they will have extra incentives to put you in another VW. They don't want to hand you a check and have you leave the dealership without a car.

My buyout option would be around $13.5k for our 09 wagon - not too bad considering we bought it for $11k two years ago.....

I also read that VW will pay an additional 30% if your loan value is above the buyout payment. We have two cars under one note - I'm going to try to separate the vehicles into two separate loans to give the most 'value' to the VW to take advantage of that as well.

What a clusterfuck - I love the car, but I can't afford NOT to take the buyout, due to our financials.

Just an update for any interested party. The final hearing was today and the judge said he was "strongly inclined" to accept the previously announced terms but may take until next Tuesday to confirm. The claims website has been live for about a month and owners who want to sell back can go in and upload official documents for review. My diesel wagon is in bad need of a service so I went ahead and parked it and replaced it with a lightly used upgrade.

Sounds good. Nice GTI's.

My ex is selling hers back in California, then planning to buy a Civic Hatchback "Sport Touring" model. We drove the Touring sedan and it was really well done. Quick too.

We just uploaded our docs for selling back our Beetle. I'm curious about the golf awd sportwagon.

My dealer had the Alltracks but not the AWD Sportwagens yet. If only they would put the 2.0 in the AWD sportwagen. I have snow tires though from my last Sportwagen which will fit the GTI so I should be good to go this winter.

If they ever make one, it won't be sold here.

Right, they didn't even bring the Rallye Golfs to the US. :crybaby:

Here is a pic of one my buddy imported years ago.

VW appears to be consolidating its US lineup. No more diesels of course, but also no more two/three door Golf variants for 2017 either.

They sell a Golf R wagon in Australia and a few other places, but I suspect here they would be worried it might erode Audi Allroad sales. I considered a lightly used All Road but they actually have less back seat space than the new GTI and barely more Luggage capacity. And lots more $$.

We test drove a new Audi Allroad and the back seat space sucked. It was perfect for my 10 year but not one of us. And we are short people.

I'm 6'-4" and drove a Mini Cooper S for years. I almost always had the rear seats folded down and used the car as a two seater.

Yeah, my 14yo daughter now sits in the front with me, while the 7yo and my wife sit in the back....if we have to take the smallroad. We opt for the LR if all of us need to be in the car. Luckily I leased this thing and is coming up for turn-in. Going to see what the B9 allroad is about.

Nick, how do you like the GTI? Thinking of replacing the smallroad with it, drive it around for a few years, and then give it to the oldest in a couple of years when she starts driving.
