The Bike Thread: let's see your Bike and where you ride.
Been meaning to do this for weeks, and with all the comments on Pat thread, it appears a lot if us ride regularly or at least once in a while. And since I'm a pic whore, I'll start off.
There are tons of awesome places to ride here in Tampa/St.Pete. I stick mostly to bike paths, but do a little urban riding as well. Part of what I find so fun, is seeing my home area from a totally different perspective than ever before.
Would love to see what it looks like where some if you guys ride. It's almost totally flat here expect for the occasional bridge or walkway over a road.
My Kona and some shots from around the area.
And I rented a bike in Austin a few weeks back

I'm down to 3 now-2 MTBs and 1 cyclocross. I mostly ride on the road these days with light singletrack.

Cool Chris. I thought I might want to do some trails, but found I'm more a road guy.
3 bikes huh.....hmmmmm. Maybe I should get that single speed I've been lusting after. Just not sure what it feels like or if I would even ride it.

I posted this photo a while back - - my new Specialized Rockhopper 29er. I feel guilty that I haven't been out on it as much as I'd hoped, but I've been focusing on my running instead. Curiously, I ride the same two places as I run (so far): either the five-mile road around Lake Miramar about a mile from my house, or Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, a good-sized nature park inside the city, about three miles from my house.

Wow! Great pics guys!
Danny, that Haro is killer. Now all you need is some turquois Lester mag wheels and you'd be set!

It's easy to get a bunch of bikes which don't receive adequate use. Where I to do it again, I'd stick to just two - a 25 pound dual suspension mountain bike and a 17 pound road bike. Instead I don't have a road bike (or cyclecross), nor do I have room or wifely goodwill for another bike. I do however have a BMX bike I never use taking up space in my garage.SCM64 wrote:Damn apparently I need more than one bike.

Re: The Bike Thread: let's see your Bike and where you ride.
Now that it has started to cool off, I am hoping to get pout on the bike as little more. The recumbent stationary gets a lot of use during these times. I have a little older Giant Rapid 2 that is my main ride.
I have an old Raleigh hybrid that gets occasional use when the family want to ride recreationally.
I also a REALLY old Nishiki I bought about 25 years ago from a then roomate. I keep thinking I want to get it road ready again but it would take more money than its probably worth. For those that have been around a while, it has the old "Bio Pace" front crankset.
Stock pic of the Giant.

Ride my 1x8 Karate Monkey rigid mostly up and down the block with the kids. Occasionally I get crazy and hit the rails to trails but not much time for riding lately... It does have some cool bits that are probably considered vintage by now; Paul’s Cantilever brakes, Control Tech bar ends, custom set of 29'er Velocity Wheels with a special 40 spoke rear, Salsa quick releases, Brooks B17 with the hammered copper rivets, etc....

Hey Steve, what model is your vintage Nishiki? I still have this '87 Nishiki Ariel hung up in my garage!hobbit712 wrote:I also a REALLY old Nishiki I bought about 25 years ago from a then roomate. I'll have to go check. It's hanging in the shed. But it is a road bike with drop down bars. 10 speed if i recall.

Lotsa nice bikes here!
Here's my 2001 Trek 4500, patina and all:
My shimano pedals, you can clip on both sides:
And I actually prefer road shoes, these ones are Diadora:
Can't find any pictures of the two nice trails I used to frequent, but... that's my rig. Would like to get a proper road bike as I haven't hit the mountains in a long time, but I'm currently jogging a lot. Maybe when little Hector is older.
