It's not too late. It only takes 10-20 years, and arthritis probably won't really set in until your 70s or 80s.Rambam wrote:I should`ve learned to play the guitar

Thanks guys!
I was being serious. In the opinion of 1 late bloomer, "You should definitely take a crack at it." Make those fingers bleed ...

Re: The Secret to Life
Yeah, work through the first week or so of painful fingers. After they recover, you're good to go!
Unless you're Stevie Ray Vaughan... then you play until your fingers are bleeding, and then play some more.

Re: The Secret to Life
I used a classical, nylon string guitar for the first few months. The fret board is too wide (for those of us with hands like Matt.wu), but otherwise it is much easier to play for noobs.

I assume you mean massive, muscular hands.vbuskirk wrote:The fret board is too wide (for those of us with hands like Matt.wu), but otherwise it is much easier to play for noobs.
At least I don't have hands like Kenneth. Here he is, pictured with Roar:
Re: The Secret to Life
I disagree on the 10-20 years part. Mozart wrote his first symphony at age 8 or 9, and he was a piano and violin master before that.
Also, if you injure your hand you just learn how to play guitar in more creative ways. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. I'll digress....

Re: The Secret to Life
I especially liked the 2nd one. (& it's encouraging to know someone else plays with their mouth. e.g. minute 4:00 of the 2nd video)
Sooooo, can anyone name the watch?

I'm somewhat of a Mozart buff.f4nt0m4s wrote:I disagree on the 10-20 years part. Mozart wrote his first symphony at age 8 or 9, and he was a piano and violin master before that.
Here is the second movement of his Symphony #1, written when he was 8. You can already hear him experimenting with syncopation, slight dissonance and playing with layers, even though he played around within the constructs of the time.
For those of you not into classical music, the second movement was almost always done in a 3/4 time signature. I'm usually pretty bored with these.
The first movement of this piece is much cooler IMO. It contains his "signature" key change and some other hallmarks that he would later improve upon.
Not too bad

I can't tell the watch, the huge strap makes the size look deceiving. I want to say it looks like a fashion watch you'd get at the mall, but it could also be a midsized quartz watch.vbuskirk wrote:I especially liked the 2nd one. I'm not a Mozart buff, only in the sense that I know that the accompaning parts in his music...the || de de de | de de de | de de de || repeated ad infinitum are no fun to play or rehearse.ezcheese wrote:I'm somewhat of a Mozart buff.
