Alfa comes out finally
We've had a long warm spring this year but this is the latest I've gotten the Spider out of storage. And of course, I chose the day when it's raining and 48 degrees to do it.
Here's an older photo of her. I'll try to get a batch of new photos this summer. I might try to sell again this year. Should get enough for a Panerai, I think.... I love driving an Italian car, but here it's only six months out of the year. An Italian watch I could wear 12 months.

The trouble is, we have a one car garage, three cars and brutal winters. So the Alfa lives across town in a friend's garage all winter so we can park one of our daily drivers in our little space. It's a hassle and every year I say I'm going to sell the Alfa. To be honest, my days as a car guy are past. I used to flip them like I do watches now.

I had a '73 MGB when I was a kid. Not much power, but fun as hell to drive and throw around. Love the Spider, forget any PAM's and keep that classic roadster.

I had this early 67 MGB roadster complete with the original aluminium hood, took me the better part of 8 years or so to get it this far only to completely loose interest and sold it like it stood. In the end I just hated every mm of that piece of shit car I used to fix and flip cars like nobody`s business, but one day I just completely lost interest in themSCM64 wrote:I had a '73 MGB when I was a kid. Something good came out of it though, for the money I got from it, I bought my first Rolex

Re: Alfa comes out finally
Love the car! Though the post makes me both joyful and sad at the same time. Joyful to see another spider hitting the street. Sad because my 79 spider has been sitting in the garage for about 8 years going through a very intermittent rebuild. I finished rebuilding the entire motor and need some time to put the transmission back together and then get it on the road.
I had dreams of getting it back together and using it as my spring to fall commuter car but we only have a two car garage and the wife would really like to have her car parked in the garage in the winter. Plus the extra money wouldn't hurt either.
So now the goal is to get it all together and put it up for sale.
I think my little girl is going to be the most upset, she keeps asking when I am going to get her red car running.

Nice ride!
You haven't been a true shade tree mechanic until you've owned an Alfa or an MG/Triumph; 'cause if you pass a shade tree, it will break down and you'll wish you were back under that tree you passed.
I'd love to take it off your hands except for a few things...
No space.
No time.
No money.
Other than that, I'm sure I could swing it.

Re: Alfa comes out finally
Had two Alfas back in the good old days. Had a '72 GTV Coupe when I was between ex-wives that I drove non-stop for a couple years. 2nd gear synchro was bad, smoked from worn valve guides, and sagged a bit in the rear. Even so, it was dead reliable for me, and I loved it. And it was just so damn pretty. The Guigiaro (sp)/Bertone body was just lovely. Not my car, but same model/year/color as mine.

If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

MY father had few.. Giulietta, GTC, AlfaSud etc.. Always loved the Quadrifoglio Verde
When I had money to buy my own car, it was WRANGLER YJ or Alfa romeo GTV..
Lucky enough, I took my dream car -- YJ.
Alfa's "ARESE" engine (V6) is one of the most beautiful engines ever made..

Sweet looking Alfa! Never owned but I wish the US sold some of the newer ones. I owned a few Fiat's which were super cool but they were a pain in the a@@.
Rambam, that paint job on your old car looks deep! Who ever did it knows how to get all the shine out of the can, that is for sure.
Hey Doctorc send me pics of your car. My wife has been wanting a convertible for a while so who knows.
