Tools. I love Tools.
Bought me a Miller Syncrowave 180SD today. I have now increased my home capabilities to include welding aluminum, Titanium, stainless steel, copper and magnesium.
COOL.

So if you can't weld Al, Ti, S/S CU or Mg, what can you do with it?Seth wrote:Bought me a Miller Syncrowave 180SD today. I have not increased my home capabilities to include welding aluminum, Titanium, stainless steel, copper and magnesium.

Very cool though! I've only worked with a welder a few times, years ago. but with all the projects I have to complete around here, it sure would come in handy.
Tools Rule!

I was hoping it would help with my spelling.

Vary cool Seth. I worked for many days trying to get some c-clips out of an engine block. I finally got so pissed, the project sat until the next summer. I took it to a friend who said he'd take a look at it. I figured I would drop it off and give him a few days. When he first saw it he said, give me a minute, and proceeded to weld a nut to the clip and had all 6 out in about 15 minutes
Everybody needs a friend or two who know how to weld, especially if they work for beer!

Sweet welder! I had a Lincoln I used for a long time but when the budget got tight I had to sell it. Can't wait to see what kind of work is going to be flowing out of the garage now.

Cool!! Don't get that SEAL too close to it..
When I very first started diving for the Navy, I tried to get qualified underwater welder but I was too impatient. I would get about 10 times the length of bead I was supposed to get per rod. Looked great, but wouldn't pass VT/PT so never even got a chance for destructive testing..
Then I realized I could get trained and certified as an underwater VT/PT inspector!! Guy would spend 8 hours welding and I could sit topside getting a sun tan and when he was done, I'd jump in and spend about 10 minutes looking at his work. They were pretty pissed off when I failed their welds, but oh well! I was on a team that flew all over the world welding (and tanning/testing of course). Best gig we had was 8 weeks in Dubai at a 5 star hotel eating 2 inch steaks and drinking beer with stewardesses every night..

Don't worry, Paul. I don't weld with a watch on. Too much magnetism.
The Seal is enjoying a tan topside as well. Its on vacation until I'm informed otherwise.

Soon, actually. I am getting some material sheared and notched for some small boxes. I might make 20 of them. I still have to figure out the latch and the hinge....
